im glad you posted these vids wayne. we have been talkin about the old days and some of the new generation ahv never got to see this. just the vibe from being at finals of those days was an electric feeling and rush. it was so exciting. it has lost that feeling. it lost the thrill of compitition. i still get buttrflys each time pulling in the lane but the rest is gone. i hope someday it can be that way again. i understand you have to do whats best for you and whats best for db drag. but something needs to be done to bring back the sport.

Strong economy and people could only get so loud made it popular. I dident know many people with 12 runs of powerwire for 1 amp. Now you gotta have this sub, that car, those amps and this much wire and a box kinda like this or your SOL! For me to be good in the lanes it just was about how much you had to spend. Now it's that and everything else must be taken to the extreme and it just got way too pricy. This is where bass race will be the new thing to do for you don't need to spend 3-15k$ to win. That and I think some people believe the pay out isent worth the investment. It was when kenwood gave away a bass ass custom bike or a car. Any more you got to give reasons for people to show up to a show and as it did for me this year did NOT pay off at all! I have a hard time trying to talk myself into running a show next year when I took a $2k loss and still owe money to people that made the show possable! It set me so far back I am still 1 month behind on my monthly bills and work is dead just makeing it even worse :-(
we can get the people back but they need reasons to get back into the game. If bass race never was Db drag would be almost gone in the USA. It's still hard to intrest the loudest locals when they are getting killed in the lanes by 15 Db by a guy with 2 tubes and 1 amp in a crx. Something needs to change. Everyone likes to win or come close and that's where the bug bites you and before you know it that person is at the next show and the next show! But they get crushed 1 time they won't come back.
So what should we do? Additions need to be made so 1st timers can go at it with other amatures. Your normal Joe is not going to spend 500$ + on just powerwire never! 1-2 runs is all ive seen with locals. So do we need limits? Street a b c pro street a b c
ect ect. There's just no easy way to do it because someone will find a loop hole or take it beyond extreme to almost ilegal for the class ( nothing wrong with wanting to be the best) and it scares away the new guy.
Does any of that make sense?

I agree with most of what your saying here. But on the flip side of this their are still competitors that have made the investment to be where they are today, and alot of the problem with getting new people to compete is the fear of getting demolished by the veterans.
But there is only so much you can do to accomodate them, freestyle, street stock, I mean damn lets just treat them like T-ballers and give them all a trophy just for showing up.
My point is, they need to have the desire to compete and learn and can't expect to show up with a best buy installed system and go home with the win, its just not going to happen.
A real competitor is someone who has the courage to come out to a show compete and get beat and want to better themself as a result of it.
I think pro classes will help some of this but what is stopping a vet from sending his girlfirend , or buddy into a amatuer class and cleaning up with some behind the scenes know how and experience.
