Yeah, I just see that 2000 RMS rated power and clamped "burping" power are completely different. Clamping the amps will defeat the purpose of Street Stock since it is supposed to be a "beginner" class

I agree with that.

Well here's a question. Being that this class was created for the "beginner" or "new comer", should there be a term limit on the number of years one competes in this class? You're only a beginner once. Then again on the flip side, a term limit rule would probably be a headache to enforce.

Yeah maybe a 2 year limit. Seeing as how this was gregs first show in. Street stock I say it was a pretty good effort. You are still the loudest in the US Greg.

that makes sense as this is my first year comp. i've been in street b prior to this past sat. was my first time trying out street stock. the thing is when do you consider it being the first year...is it you're first comp. no matter what class or starting it the first time you comp. in that street stock? there is a lot of var. that would have to be considered fair to do that. just my thoughts

Way too many variables. The class makes great budget sense for alot competitors.

I thought the origins of the class were: a. A more economical class in relation to the current street class structure. b. Allows the "win on sunday...sell on monday" philosophy to come back to the retailers.
This class has so much potential if we as competitors/officials keep it simple for anyone to comprehend. It can send customers back into dealers for info (Think Soundstream might have a few inquiries after this weekend?) and manufactures can sell more gear to the average consumer. Think about it- Alpine just released a 2000 watt monoblock amp -(their most powerful amp to date)...maybe this class had a correlation.
I know there are plenty of ideas and opinions on this class. I came to the party late...I missed the 90's when there was shows every weekend somewhere. Yeah I know a lot was corporate sponsorship...but how cool would it be for the average person to buy gear,go to a show, maybe place and share the experience that he got brand x amp from his local dealer. I don't think that there should be limits on the class in the way of experience....because honestly the only limiting factor I see is if you have access to a Termlab or not.

This would in my opinion be the way to get the rookie competitor to learn the testing methods that all the other classes use to get loud, as a stepping stone so to speak. I like the idea of clamping to keep the cheater amps out of the game.
