Looks like to me that if we the db Drag racing community continue to support db Drag and especially WF, perhaps it will be relocated to a more favorable location in the near future possibly even by 2010 it could be back in one of the previous venues that most people began to take for granted but definitely seemed to be the best for the most. I will do my part to continue to support as we all should if we have the means to.

Thats the whole problem though. If no one supports it where it is why would he want to move it back. He lost the support where you wanted it so why bring it back now?

Good point. This finals will probobly be the last in north America. If there is another it will probobly be in a corn field instead of an actual venue.

Some people can not afford it.

For some people it is the case of not being able to afford it but for some others out there, they choose to use that or another excuse just because its not "in their backyard" anymore.

if we suport it in BFE what reason would there be to bring it back to us ? That would just prove that people will do what ever there told.
If turn out is poor it would be proof that finals should have been where people wanted it(the people that show up) not where it would be the most profitable.

here is a simple and relatable analogy. If you bought gas from a gas station at a particular location for years but then started going somewhere else, what reason would they have for staying open for business? If they don't get the business or make a marginal profit it only makes sense to close up and move to another location that might fair better. If enough people showed that they still wanted to go to the original location then there may be reason to re open that location. Make any sense at all?

No why spend money to re-open the old location when you know that they will just come to the new location

I will support DB drag in anyway i can possibly do it. If we loose some competitors because of a finals location change, so be it. Its just going to be what it is. We just need to except that!

When Spl competition needs you the most will you be there?
I will do what I can within my budget to support dB Drag and that includes finals if possible.
People with either go or not, just like every other finals. I think this Tulsa finals will be a huge turn out, depite all the negativity.
I do understand how tough it is when its far away but on the other hand those who had a short distance before must understand that the long drive for westerners is what kept alot from getting into dB Drag out west in the first place.
With dB Drag more central and one location the serious competitors will remain and attend, the rest will move on. It happens all the time and its out of dB Drags control.

You make a very valid point Greg, but for myself it is the feeeling of being jerked around with proposed rule changes after the season has started every year. And it seems to get progressively worse with finals being moved such a long distance from the previous locations.
I will make an effort to attend the 2009 WF's, but I would like to see some stability return to DBDRA in return for my support. Rule changes and finals locations need to be addressed as soon as the season is over not months after people are gathering equipment or building for the new season.

I think Canadians did a very good job of supporting it for the past few years.
What did that get us?
I understand that Wayne has to do what he sees fit for his business but at the same time I have to do what I see fit for my own situation.

First we love db drag but it's come down to the point that with little to no competition or shows in our area and the cost of competing being way to high it's just not worth it to run Street Class anymore. And finals isn't that far from us so location isn't that big of an issue at 11 hours of a drive. It just comes down to it costs to much to compete. We're tired of spending thousands of dollars and don't want to spend the money it takes to be competitive. We'll do some local bass race but won't be at finals. Just cost is getting out of control but that's us.

bad time to make "let's support db drag threads" when finals location is in a place no one wants it to be.

maybe this location will be good for this year, who knows.....However, i do know for fact that myself and other competitors from ontario cant afford to do this trip. its way to far for me, 20 hrs drive is not good for anyone working on a budget, i had plans of purchasing alot of equipment and going to indy finals and it would have worked out....now, if i wanted to go, id have to use what ive got for equipment and not perform the way i want to at a finals event. that ruins the fun in it.
this year is a big bummer for me but i hope next year, Canadians are thought of before a descision is finalized.

I feel your pain my brothers.Things financially have been bad because of the whole economy thing. Then to move finals to Tulsa in the midst of this economic turmoil is just bad timing.

(repeating) i guess the problem i have is how many east coast guys said travel to the west coast people when finals were closer to the east, i dont know if i will be a competitor but i will be at finals.
You have to understand this is about survival of dbdra, how many vendors were at last years finals? Wayne lost his A$$, In the End everyone will do what is best for themselfs, you just have to understand this is what is best for wayne/dbdrag. and yes from md i will have a 20 hour drive myself, maybe less they do have faster speed limits there.
