Getting ready to spend some money on tools, what bramd do you guys recommend? Don't really want to go to the snap on/blue point route unless its completely necessary

Depends on what you want to spend, Snap-on, Mac, Craftsman, all good brands, craftsman if you don't want to spend as much and arn't a mechanic for a living. If you are a mechanic I would recommend snap-on.

Dewalt drills
Dewalt grinder
Dewalt sanders
Bosch jigsaw
Porter Cable reciprocal saw
Porter Cable circular saw
Craftsman table saw
Craftsman tool set
I think that's it.

The router is next. It will probable be a Porter Cable.

I know a lot of the handtools are craftsman/matco/snap-on

My power tools are:
Craftsman circular saw
Craftsman router
Dewalt jigsaw
Craftsman drill

I guess it pays off to have a dad that's a mechanic and loves cars. [Big Grin]

I've never had a problem with any of my stuff. [Smile]

craftsman is the best bang for the buck.

i prefer mac hand tools over anything...and if you break them the mac tool truck comes directly to your house to replace it. Even up here in Canada.

Never gotten anything from him yet though.

I have a few misc hand tools from snap on and a lot of craftsman stuff right now, in an olddddd blue point 8 drawer box.

Looking at buying all brand new, just needing a 8-12 drawer box, few multi size socket sets/impact sockets. ratchet wrenches in both metric and standard, hook tools, electric impact and drill...etc etc

If I spend the million dollars it would take to get snap on I could at least get financing through them, just seeing what all you guys use and what issues if any you've had

I highly recommend to get a job where your co-worker has a nice tool setup....

Then slowly "borrow" a tool from time to time.

[Big Grin]

Seriously though, get Craftsman Box and hand tools.
Lifetime warranty no matter what you do to the tool.....
I cut a wrench in half to fit a tight spot one time.... they replaced it!

For drills.... Ryobi has a new Lithium ion cordless that I like.... and they make great corded drills too....

AVOID SNAP-ON REVOLVING CREDIT!
Their tools are nice, but way over priced and then the interest kills you.

I made that mistake when I was an installer at about 22 years of age....
Its like a credit card.... $1,000 will cost you $3,500 when you finally pay them off.
