As far as the Alma comment, who cares who built what for her. If more people had the attitude she does and has had towards this sport and not walk around like a pompus ass like a few of the more successful competitors of today maybe we would have more support. You cant judge a person on how great of a competitor they are by their score or their trophy room, thats merely their success, but to be a great competitor takes more than standing on a stage holding a trophy larger than anyone elses.

dammmm i have to go with navi on this one [Eek!]

Say what you like about Alma, but I have only seen one person sign autographs, and one person asked to sign autographs, and that was Alma. She may not have built her own stuff, but she put in her time at countless shows with the people that compete and the fans to make her the favorite. Our sport has a void in it now that she isnt around, and I for one miss her.

I dont know if anyone else could ever get to her level.

one other thing

I said something to one of the top competitors of DB drag at finals, about how it was a bummer that the only other guy that had a chance of beating him didnt make finals.

His reply was" no, im glad, I got to win easy and didnt have to worry."

To me this isnt a competitor, I would rather get second with good competition than win with no one else close. The people you compete with and beat is what makes you a great competitor, if you cant beat the best it means nothing.

Steve Cotton FTW!

Creative Acoustics and Jay Lovelace should be at the top of any SPL list. Their stats speak for themselves.

Thanks remembering me guys [Smile]

To Steves points:
1. Ok, I have a "lucky guys" World Record from
the 1st certified 2006 ...
And, please dont takte that away because its not dB,
the all time high points records with 701 and 801, not
to mention the all in all career points thing..
(But you should include my 2nd account "The Big Oki" also)

2. Participatet 2001 (at least I was there [Smile] )
2002, 2003 AND 2004 with TWO cars ! That MAKES
5, if we close one eye, cross the finger and
see that I shipped the Sh!t from overseas.
That should count DOUBLE and would include Cactus also.
Also 2005 and 2006 in Bass Race (ok, not with own car,
what is not neccessary in Bass Race, but I paid
entry fee and was qualified, and as Bass Race is
a part of dB Drag...)
And I was present at all Finals from 1st to last day
(even before Wayne and after Wayne, hehe) from 2000...

3. Ok, here again I trust into my points
championship what can be won by only one person
every year and is an a$$load of work and stress,
not to mention the financial thing. If my car
only would have reached Nashville in 2001...
then...maybe...who will ever know...
At least I wone some european titels and records as well as
World Title in other organisations (dB Cup),
even if we just talk about dB Drag.

Also I meet all "points points" Carlos added, hehehe...
But ok, enough talk about me now...

So yes, every european had the opportunity to come over,
same as the US guys will have the opportunity
to ship their cars over when World Finals
would be in Europe. I already can hear the moaning
and whining and b!tchin about this "amrican sport"
with "american roots", what uses the world just
to call it "world wide sport".

And Alma should get all the respect, as SAME as ALL the
people (like Scott) who were involved into the Broncos.
Shes like the "Head" of a Team, so we just should name
it Team Gates, that includes Alma and all others.
I miss her also but its time for hear to join her life.
She really deservese it after all she did in Car Audio,
and also dB Drag.

I see Scott all around, for himself as Edge Audio or
as a part of other Teams. So he IS one with at least 5
Worldfinals participations, and one who invented something
and won alot and and and...

As I said before, there are so much people around what
did positive things in different ways for dB Drag.
And you see yourself that its not fair to "reduce" the
list to more and more things so that just a handful people
remain. So we will have what we have : DISCUSSIONS and anger...

Ok, its springbreak here and it started to SNOW
after a snowless winter... So I had a little time to write
instead of preparing my event next week or work on my new car [Smile]

Ü
MM [Razz]

PS.: My post was not against anybody, just to explain,
sometimes my english leaves me.

PS2.: We should include people with over 4000 Postings
into the forum here also, because they spent a lot of time
also for dB Drag, even if its Spam haha [Smile]

Edit: Stop ! Include people with more than 2264 postings please,
And the AMOUNT they write,
than I stay on the list again muaahahaha...

This is an interesting thread, but I think it needs some direction.

I agree with many and disagree with a few on how people should be nominated.

I think that you should get to pick on person per post and you have to explain why you think they should be SPL Competitor of all time.

I think Team Gates (The Entire Crew not just Alma) should be on the list because they were one of the most recognized groups in SPL, and because of the design of the original Bronco a lot of Rules were changed. They all are some of the nicest people I have ever met and they have donw a lot for promoting interaction with people at shows.

(Scott and Kyle will always be in that crew along with some others as far as I am concerned)

10 is to be determined..

most of the current competitors here in ohio would be hard press to know half of them..

if you all want to this list to be a bit more serious. You need to set Stats to be judged by. World finals apearances/ placements, season competed, etc.

instead of what this is turniing into, I know Joe from down the street, he really loud. he should be number 2 right behing alma.

I know a few of those people! [Big Grin]

im not trying to get personal credit from alma s bronco there were alot of people before me involved in that prodject that never get mentioned, they along with me in 98 were the ones at the shop 100 hrs a week making that happen and to me it seems like people forget that. so im not taking anything away from alma just pointing out that there were others involved.

yes mikko and marko started using the design first. not taking any credit from them. some day we should sit down and i will show you note books and dated drawings of designs we were going to use but had not gotten around to it yet. that is not saying that i thought of it first or anything like that. but i wanted to do some very simular things in 2000 but my fault i didnt.
i dont know who all should be on that list. it makes me feel good just being mentioned with some of those other guys.
one person i dont think has been mentioned enough is Jay Lovlace. he should be on that list.
