Uhhh, a shyt ton of technology comes from NASA and the space program.

At any rate, voting McCain here.

Obama has no stance on the issues that matter to ME. Not to mention 140 'PRESENT' votes in the senate. PRESENT meaning not 'yes' or 'no,' but just fvcking there stealing oxygen.

If Obama wins, the first time he goes to alabama, georgia, mississippi, etc. some redneck with a deer rifle is gonna bullet in his head. If McCain wins, he will probably die in office...

that kind of thinking is why America is in trouble, if you use a Microwave to cook food, watch cable TV, use Gps, take certain Drugs, cars and homes in the next few years will use fuel cell technology and so much more from the space program, not counting thousands of jobs, even some of the batterys used in car audio today come from the space program they pay more than burger king people need to study more on how things work and how the job market works a Nasa engineer can afford to buy car audio for themselves or kids a Wal-Mart worker most likely cannot

The whole election is a mess. These days it's all about how bad you can make your opponent look. Not who is more qualified. All of the BS really makes it hard to make an informed choice.

What most people don't stop to think about is that congress is two thirds of the decision making process in most cases. These old farts have been on office for 30+ years in some cases. Hell some of them are well into their late 80's. No term limits is B.S. to me.

Just look at the Alaska Senator Ted Steven's http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/07/30/lawmaker.raid.ap/
This guy is 83 YEARS OLD FOR CRYIN OUT LOUD!
quote:
Stevens, who has been in office since 1968 and is the longest-serving Republican in Senate history,
BTW - Notice this guy is from Alaska, and he is Republican. I see how these Alaskan Republican's roll.. LOL

i dont see why people get so worked up on elections. no matter who you vote for, your gonna have to put up with the same ol' b.s. as the last one. it just depends on which angle you want it from.

vote for britney spears for all i care.

every candidate always says the same ol' tired ass lines in their speeches.

1- we are gonna balance the budget
2- we are gonna cut taxes
3- we are gonna fix social security

if you translate the 3 above statements into english, it translates to
"we are gonna bend you over and rip you a new one beyond all belief"

too bad that statement is true of ALL politicians to varying degrees, look what happened when Perot ran. ya he was a little eccentric but then again overall he had some old school ideals that if elected would have left the country better than he found it instead of the same old status quo mud slinging and politics as usual imho

well I'm sure it wouldnt be by giving Exxon-Mobile a 3 BILLION tax cut now would it. For a compnay that posted 32 BILLION dollars profit for last quarter. As for the other comment, I'm sure its going to take more than 2 years to fix everything George Bush has done. If you are in the top 5% of Americans that make 250k + a year than i understand your vote. Factor in also the failed policies ( and not all but 90%) from bush, job loss, home losses etc and McSame wanting to keep those same policies, i would perfer not. As Al Gore once said, most Americans are like a frog on water, if you slowly turn the water up the frog will stay in the pot until it boils itself. Most Americans will no do anything until something drastic really happens until then they will just sit and wait until we go into a recession. Even if McCain gets office in which i pray to god he dosen't and we end up in a recession, people will say that its from Bush and he will get away with it.

I think the election will be close. Honestly, of the 2 bad choices, I think McCain would be the lesser of a bad choice. I'll be honest, I think if Obama wins, some nut job will shoot him. There are alot of crazy racists out there that do not want a black man as president. I'm amazed one hasn't got him yet.

Obama doesn't have any lobbyists on his campaign...? Did you know that Biden's son is a lobbyist that obama helped get a lot of money for his clients??

Also, look at the facts...McCain has voted on the side of the taxpayer over 80% of the time while obama has voted on the side of the taxpayer only 18% of the time...and that's from an independent watchdog group...so who's on our side again...??

im going to be on a side that

a) will not give tax cuts to compnaies making BILIONS per quarter
b) will make healthcare affordable
c) will not KEEP the policy to give tax breaks to compnaies that will ship jobs overseas
d) opposes offshore drilling, we can drill right now and will see NO effects whatso ever in gas prices
e) will support a raise in the hourly minum wage
f) will support in bringing our troops home, instead of fighting a war in which we shouldnt have been in the first place

just to name a few. why give tax breaks to people making 250+k a year and not the other 98% of Americans that really need it?

Thats the side im on.

ohh my god. you can't be serious... do you even think when you hear/watch/read? or... did you fogrget to ask your preacher for permission to think?

Sorry, but your "independent" watchdog group is obviously not independent.

"side of the taxpayer" - that proves it. side of the taxpayer is a slogan that rich republicans use to herd moronic sheep into thinking they're doing the right thing.

what really happens- they cut taxes. increase spending. run up a defecit at a faster and faster rate. then enough of the population FINALLY catch on to get a dem in. then the dems say... taxes are a part of life, we can either reduce spending, or increase taxes. but thesystem is soo screwed up right now, we have to do a little of both. its only logical, its the way the world works. then the republicans can really let loose- hey you little sheep... come here... you don't have to "PAY" for anything! keep more money in your pocket! AND fund my personal war at the same time!

stupid people are all over that like white on rice.

I also think you got your "statistic" from FOX [Big Grin] am I right? [Wink]

For those who didn't know, FOX is NOT a new organization. it is a tabloid. why can't people understand this? go to a news station for news. there are lots of them. CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, BBC, etc.

i personally, wouldnt want to vote for hypocrites.

quote:

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin employed a lobbying firm to secure almost $27 million in federal earmarks for a town of 6,700 residents while she was its mayor, according to an analysis by an independent government watchdog.

There was $500,000 for a youth shelter, another $1.9 million for a transportation hub, $900,000 for sewer repairs, and $15 million for a rail project — all intended to benefit Palin's town, Wasilla, about 45 miles north of Anchorage.

In introducing Palin as his running mate on Friday, Sen. John McCain cast her as a compatriot in his battle against wasteful federal spending.

McCain's crusade against earmarks — federal spending sought by members of Congress to benefit specific projects — has been a hallmark of his campaign. He has said earmarks are wasteful and are often inserted into bills with little oversight, sometimes by a single powerful member of Congress.

Just a little info from the washington post, CNN and AARP...but if you only get your news from the networks, you probably won't believe any of this either [Big Grin]

CAPITAL GAINS TAX

MCCAIN
0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.

OBAMA
28% on profit from ALL home sales. (How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)

DIVIDEND TAX

MCCAIN
15% (no change)

OBAMA
39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.')

INCOME TAX

MCCAIN

(no changes)
Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $31,250

OBAMA (reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)
Single making 30K - tax $8,400
Single making 50K - tax $14,000
Single making 75K - tax $23,250
Married making 60K - tax $16,800
Married making 75K - tax $21,000
Married making 125K - tax $38,750
Under Obama, your taxes could almost double!

INHERITANCE TAX

MCCAIN
- 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)

OBAMA
Restore the inheritance tax

Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.

NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA

New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet. New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already) New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity) New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least....New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

freedom isn't free.

governments need to make money to spend money, or the system collapses. the system was working well before Bush went crazy with spending and tax cuts to try to up his approval rating.

although... I'm not saying Omaba is all that, he's just clearly the best candidate. there is a lot I agree with, but I'd vote for another 4 years of Bush before I voted for McCain.
