I was just looking through an old issue of "Mobile Sound Competition" 96 awesome magazine wish it was still around. anyway i wa just wondering who here remembers Mark Fukuda and his yellow blazer? this is what this magazine had to say about him.
It's the loudest vehicle on the planet. Mark Fukuda's chevy s10 has hit as loud as 158.8db! It's the loudest USAC vehicle, and even though IASCA hasn't officially recognized SPL, it has been the loudest thing to ever roll through their judging lanes, too. As the owner of Auto Graphics in Bridge City, Texas, Mark has made a name for himself not by only consistently wining, but by being the loudest. While everybody else is breaking gear in the heat of the action, Mark's Blazer just keeps on goin'. He can back his scores up one after another, all day long. The Blazer has been played all day long for about five years, in fact, with little change. Since 1990, his ground pounder has been breaking and making world records at every show it graces. It has over 8,000 watts of Rockford Fosgate power (8 power 1000s, to be exact) and an egg-crate shaped wall of woofers to turn that power into raw energy. If 746 watts equal the power of one horse, then this system could mow any HUD home lawn! Just to keep the four 4-D tractor batteries up to snuff, the rig needs two 250-amp alternators to crank out juice. There's more this system then big sound, though-it's beautifully done. Stitched leather wraps the ****pit tastefully with color-matched highlights. The enclosure, intimidating to some, deadly to small animals, is clothes in matching almond velour. In between the woofers are vinyl-wrapped dividers used to prevent cancellation between transitions. Having set its record in the USAC camp, the blazer really is the loudest vehicle in the world, through past efforts in the USAC and thunder on wheels have yielded similar results. However, USAC is the only "officially" record SPL. Mark is feeling the pressure of many SPL machines appearing on te USAC circuit recently and is in the process of a complete redo of the system. He was challenged last year, and even beaten by one competitor, but Mark was quick to answer that call with the aforementioned number of 158.8dB. It's definitely tough to stay at the top for an extended period of time, but for now, the records show Mark Fukuda leading since 1991.
for the product profile it has this info: Installer & shop: Mark Fukuda, Auto Graphics source unit: Alpine Amplification: Rockford Fosgate Front Stage: Rockford Fosgate Sub-bass: Rockford Fosgate Inner Components: Monster Cable Security system: alpine Tricks: No tricks up Mark's sleeve, just loud audio
So here is a salute, to the man who in his time, was known by many, as the God of SPL.

I think it was Alma Gates with Using Precision power. at that time she had the old art1200 amps and not near as many subs as she had in her bronco. i have it in another magazine I would have to look it up to give you all the details

I remember this local sound-off (Sacramento) this guy had a crx with 12 15" Petras hyper throw subs. He beat all the competition, Blazers vans broncos even a ford econoline van with 20 or 24 woofers. I could not believe it! The guys mane was Greg something. He was powering each one with a LP 5002. I wrent to his shop a few weeks later, and bought a pair of each. Actually I got the lp 2502 iq . All I have left is one of the lp amps. I think lp is (sorry was) one of ,if not the best amp ever made. What ever happened to Petras anyway?

wow guys great post, keep this going. Newer competitors such as myself have heard lots of great stories about these kinda vehicles but have never had the change to see the stories in the legendary Mobile Sound Competition magazine. So if you guys have any more of this kinda stuff keep it going, cause this is the history of the hobby we all love

Anyone know whatever happened to Fukuda's engineer, Larry Westby? He designed and built Mark's custom digital-display dual-alternator charger, line-level distribution amp and modified the 32 Punch 500 amps to DOUBLE their output power! The scope shot on the modified amps looked like the speaker was plugged into a wall outlet...120Vrms (170 Vpeak). No wonder his speakers could take only one or two shots of max power before they blew. Again, this was all before any of the new class-D amps were available.

If it's the same Larry that run Autographics after Mark went on to other ventures, he was working for Brian Kirbeaux of Performance Car Audio in Beaumont, TX. Not sure what his last name was, thought it was Triebel though.

ok - I remember this blazer.....and I beg to differ on one point from the article and one point made in the posts here.
The blazer looked good - yes....but it NEVER played sun up to sun down or anything of the sort. This blazer was connected to a generator and it only burped frequency notes based on surges from the charges. When it hit a certain charge it would discharge and burp out a long tone.
THAT is not a stereo system - not by ANY stretch of the imagination. I was never really impressed with this blazer only from that perspective. Yeah - it looked nice - and clean - and it probably had the potential to sound sweet too - but when I heard it at the IASCA finals in 95 - yeah - it wasnt all that I was hoping for.
