I'm going to roll with no subs for awhile and right now I have a pair of JBL 5 1/4" components upfront and a pair of JBL 6x9s all getting 25 watts a piece. I plan to quadruple that power soon and I'm wondering if anyone had good experience using just a pair of 6x9s on rear deck to pull off bass duties? I know it's not going to be crazy deep bass but I want as much as possible.

Subs will come later and I'm just getting a bigger 4 channel amp for the sake of more volume and match subs when I get them. 25 watts per channel is weak especially when I have a big car.

Two 6x9s + ginormous trunk + 200 watts = ????

Plus you loose a good deal of bass due to the rear wave leaking through the backseat [Confused]

^^^ true

6x9's can sound ok, but they will bottom out easy. one song will be fine, and another will have to be turned way down to keep from blowing them. The lower bass is hell on them. Be careful also, they usually smoke pretty quick, and they can't stand it for long-- no endurance.

I wouldn't push em, you're gonna end up blowing them and then you'll have to get new 6x9's also.

Hmm I think I could get some to do in the 170's....in port wars.

Other then would have no use for them. Never was a huge fan of them. No real reason I guess other then have not found a pair I liked the sound of.

I do believe the vid is on real of excursion [Smile]

as for 6X9's mounted in the rear deck, you might break a 120dBs...

Yeah I'm not trying to get deep bass because 6x9s can't anyway, instead I'm looking for what it can do which is 40Hz and up. It doesn't sound half bad right now but I can tell the speakers need more power.

it was 14 Ultimate 6x9's and 14 Zapco 9.0's on about 28 Westco 8 volt batteries.

Old mics first burp was over a 150. The ONLY reason they blew before they got to the 170dB mark is because someone "rolled" it up to quickly!

I believe Luin also did over a 150 with 24 6x9's.

While I dont know about the brand he is talking about..I do know that unless you are playing the speaker out of it specs you best not have the problem you are talking about.
