i know some of you have been there, so i ask, i hate posting **** like this but i have to vent, as some of u know, i am a new resident to corpus christi, i just graduated from college with a meteorology degree, well the jobs for meteorology were not as plentiful as i had hoped and so here i am with a college degree struggling to get a job already. i left my college rented house cause of bad situations to stay with family in what i consider paradise, warm weather and nice people. now all i want to do is stay here and find a job. stayin with close family but yet again having conflicts within the house. issues of respect and stupid arguemnts over the dumbest things cause this just like in my college house. i feel as if my views are causing conflict yet the parties on middle ground that have witnessed my conflicts say it is not me, just 2 hard heads meeting with issues that blow up(both house alcohol always seem to escalate problems). all i want to do is get ahead but 2 months into graduation i feel as if i am going nowhere. i have confidence issues, i miss my stereo haha. i'm broke and living off others. is this how it is? i want to go places, everyone says a college degree will get u somewhere. will benefits come? i get down on myself very quickly and am now stayin in a place where i see what hard work and success get you. i am just tired of arguing my views with people and want to have my own life. sometimes i feel i should quit drinking since it causes these things although i am always encouraged to drink. by my name u can see i have other drugs of choice but with no connections and risking job opportunities by doing a drug i feel is better for me, i can not do such. do all college grads start off this bad? should i be struggling to live on my own instead of taking the help offered to me risking conflict? i feel so confused a lot and get down on myself. termpro is the unbiased family to me so give me your opinions. i'm do not want to be embarrassed posting this just need opinions. i love my new area but need my own life i guess and am not getting there as quick as i'd like

Things are rough all over, not just for recent College Grads. Some of the things above you need to work out on your own if your ever going to be successful.
Ease up on the drinking, get your mind off the drugs, choose your arguments wisely, stand up tall and prove to yourself you didn't just waste time and cash on a piece of paper.

Sometimes your degree doesnt end up working out for you right away. You may have to settle for something else for now, just to get some cash in your pocket, while you look for the job you really want.

can't remember the exact numbers but something like 75% of people don't use the degree towards their career.

have you looked into the area of aviation weather ? There are a decent number of flight service stations which are now contracted out by the FAA to lockheed martin. There are also flight watch stations that are used in giving up to date weather information to pilots who are already up in the air. There are many other avaiation weather jobs out there as well besides those. It may not be exactly what you are looking for but it could be something you overlooked and a way to get your feet wet in weather. As long as there is aviation there will always be a job in weather.

it will always come out, through random drug tests or seeing someone outside of the work place...you don't become a millionaire and not have some professionalism

hey what happened to sid's 'behind the scene' response?
I removed it, shortly after posting it, in hopes that no one was able to read it before being deleted. What I had written, did not assist him in any way, and was borderline of being repetitive of what has already been said.

Just because one person enjoys using alcohol or other types of drugs it doesn't mean that person is irresponsible. I'm just about to graduate this May and I'm looking for jobs that associates with my major (Web & Digital Media Development), I have until the end of Augest to pull it off or it's momma's house for me

werd. Its not a big deal to enjoy some beers with the fellas every once in a while, but you might as well forget the sticky-icky. I dont know of any jobs out there that dont require drug testing, and its not worth losing your job and wasting your college education over a couple joints and a good feeling for a while. If you think it is, then you might as well forget about ever having a real career.

I had to go through a whole 10 weeks of half days and goofing around at the local technical college
I just got my Class A cdl wednesday and I have gone atleast 4 days without a job.
Sad thing is I could have a job tommorow making $40K+, but I dont think I wanna sleep in a truck in some random place 10 days at a time..
I am such a puss
Seriously though, I know a guy that has a Masters and has been making $13hr at some crap job for years cause he cant find one for the degree he has........ they all want people with the degree + experience......... but I tell ya when he does actually get a job relative to his degree he will surpass what 95% of highschool grads top out at in his first year.
My advice.... put the drugs and drinking away and learn how to drive a truck
