Bought an angle grinder today. The hardware store had some on sale for about $25 bucks. I been trying to borrow my friends for a week or two to notch my frame, but he hasnt been able to track it down.
So I bought one, so I can notch the frame this weekend, FINALLY! No more back problems.
It accepts up to 4.5" grinding discs and a few other accessories (like wire brush grinders? to name one off the top of my head).
And is *edit* 11,000 *edit* rpms. Not bad for the money!
I just dont know what type of disc to purchase that will cut through the frame easily! I have read that aluminum oxide is best for cast iron, etc. Think that'll get it done?

new tools are always fun. anyhoo the grinder might have trouble cutting the frame with any disc as it might not have enough torque with only 580 watts. only one way to know for sure though.

"Chicago" Harbor Freight! Gotta love it....my first grinder was the 4" version for 9.99. I figured if it breaks, throw it in the gutter and go buy another but 8 years later its still got a spot in my tool box and is working great!

A good carbide tipped blade will cut it good.

I bougth a silicone carbide blade and it took care of the frame. I used that blade all up and had to use the blade that came with it. Kinda slowed things down a bit, but it still got done.
For drills, I like my Ryobi. It's great for boxes and has pretty good battery life if you don't torture it. But ended up using an electric drill to finish drilling the holes for my notch.
And I use a DeWalt at work. Not too fond of it. It's 18v, 2 speed, hammer, but doesnt seem to have as much power in it as my Ryobi does. And the batts die quick. Could just be old though.
My pops has a 12v (or 14.4v) Makita set that whoops the ass of any surface you have to drill through, but he did pay a good penny for it.
