I work at 3167 in peoria,il for 8 years now and have been happy here but after this new cut today its time to find a new job. Lost my S&I that has been here since day 1 of the stores opening in 1994, no respect for employees just after the high and mighty dollar(yes I know big business) but needs respect more for the ones that make them the money.

I just found out the S&I manager in Altamonte, Fla. (shop 839)CC just got canned after being with CC for 19 years. he was making too much. also I hear Firedog and the Roadshop will become one. WTF? do you really want a computer geek (please take no offense) installing your car alarm? Do you really want an installer hooking up your wireless router? Circuit will be an online only store soon. You were able to go to Circuit many years ago and talk to knowledgable sales people but now the kids will ask if you want fries with your radio. It's a shame.

Commisioned (sp?) salespeople make sure the customer is happy. If they are'nt, the customer returns product and the salesperson loses commision.
I'm not exactly thrilled with the actions of the comapny in the past couple of months. No one really is. But, in my area, there is no one that pays anywhere near what I make now, and I'd be foolish to quit "out of protest".
We've had some employees leave out of anger, or revenge. So, alot of them have ended up at the same Carmax. Now they are all just standing around, looking at each other...making half of what they were making if they had ridden it out.
I'm staying where I'm at. The money's good, the hours are good (50+) for the last 3 weeks, and, well damnit, I want to see what happens next.
I have several investments if something does happen to me, so I'm not SUPER concerned. But, it does suck for the co-workers that did'nt survive the last big layoff.
Motorola is laying off 4000 people and Dell is dumping 8000 people.

We have had customers bring in their credit cards from CC and ask us to cut them up. Customer perception is important. Any company that does not see value in experienced employees doesn't see value in good customer service.

im a best buy installer, and we dont sell on commission...so why should cc? im not being fesecious, im just wondering. i agree, a commissioned sp will definitely make sure a customer is happy, but they wont always get what they need out of it. i just had a recent dispute with some prices of cc, 99 taurus kit. we retail it for half the price, and a cc employee basically told the customer i was an idiot and didnt know what kit i was talking about. that pissed me off. ours is scosche, they may have the metra. either way, i sold the kit and installed his radio (not purchased here) for the price of just their kit. they may need to make an adjustment, or look at the car before they tell a customer what their kit will cost. not bashing cc, just giving that heads up. i know here at BB, a lot of our sp just arent near as enthused to push sales as they could be if they were directly making some of that money. in a way as an installer here, even though not on comm., i still am affected by the labor dollars in that they effect my productivity on paper and my future hours.

When I started at CC back in 2000, we had commisioned sales. Even if I, as an installer made the sale, I got commision.
We sold alot more "larger" systems back the. Radio, 4 speakers, 4 channel amp, sub amp, cap, alarm, etc.
Everything you sold you recieved commision on. Plus, back in the day, Sony would offer "Double dollar" promotion, so they would send you extra money for pushing their product. It was alot more fun back then.
I saw alot of our commisioned salesguys paychecks. They were making upwards of $60K a year.
Now it seems we have clerks that just sell the customer what they want, which is sometimes not what they need.
I could rant on and on about this, but, I'm tired.
Now, as a CC installer, i could tell quite a few BB horror stories. All of our local BB guys want to work for us since their location is not giving them any hours.
But it's not TRULY fair to judge a whole company by one location.
The Burger King in our front parking lot is the worse thing ever. The Burger King 5 miles down the road is one of the best I've ever been to.

oh no, i wasnt saying they suck at all. i was just saying figure out the price on the kit to this location and not try and make me sound like an idiot. i can speak from personal experience that this cc location is one who doesnt put all they can into an install. ive had cars come to me in not too great of shape. im sure before the guys we have in our bay right now, we had some bad vehicles leave as well. i know we pride in not having claims and having high standards, actually higher than most other bbs in our district. sometimes i feel i put too much in a car, but if i have the time i try to be a perfectionist at all possible. we are claim free for over a year. but yes, i do see other locations doing some very, for lack of better words, STUPID things. we have a tech tips section that updates daily. weekly it gives a rundown on claims from weeks past to give a heads up and try and change things before they can happen again. we have a good, prepared system.

Ive been in the car audio scene for 12 years now. ive been working at circuit city for a year and a half and i must say Im not happy with the changes Ive seen since I started. I am on the verge of leaving my job anyday. I am only staying right now for a few personal reasons. I would not recommend anyone to work at cc after what Ive seen and been through since day one. When I frist applied at cc i went for the asst. s&i position, the s&i at the time was very knowledgable and had been with the company for 17 years. Him and I got along very well and he wanted too hire me for the job(which i was very qualified for), I got hired as an installer instead because of the store manager.and few weeks later they hired an asst. s&i that knew absolutley nothing about car audio, which was a big slap in the face too me.Guess they didnt want too pay me the $$??. But know Im happy I didnt get the position after all the layoffs and changes that have been made. About 3 months after I started the s&i caught wind about the "restucture" and quit after 17 years!! They then brought in a senoir salesman over tv's from another location too fill his spot.who knew nothing about car audio at all!! A month or so later the asst. s&i quit and they moved up our vetern installer that had been there for 6 years too asst. Less than a year later our best salesman that had been with cc for 11+ years gets the boot. Since those 2 have left the current asst. s&i (now supervisor) an I are the only 2 in the store that even have a clue about mobile. I get sick and tired of the half-ass salesman we have asking me questions about every car that comes in and everytime I go up too the sales floor their nowhere too be found and I end up selling something about evertime I talk too a customer because I know how too awnser their questions and point them in the right direction. And then the salesman have the nerve too get mad at me for (taking their sale) well you shouldnt have took the job if you dont know anything about car audio and its not my fault that you werent around and not doing your job. i know that the level of customer service has went down tremendously nationwide at cc after the layoffs. They will hire anyone now just too have a body there. Needless too say i am overworked and VERY underpaid for a person with my talents in the field. I have seen managers and installers come and go that knew nothing and had too hold their hand the whole time they were employed at cc. Its just gotten too ridiculous. Sorry for the long rant but I needed too get this off my chest. I know there are people that have been with the company for years and will defend them, but I believe those peoples days are numbered as well.

and you've been there just 1 1/2 years, I was there almost 11 and left when they canned the commissioned sales people so heartlessly. it's one thing to let someone go, it's another when you fire them and treat them like a dirt being escorted out of the place they gave their heart and soul. it all started when CC got rid of appliances.
