My company's (not mine, but the one I work for) system admin has created a new "start-up" company in Columbia, MD - www.mytekwave.com. He recently sent out an e-mail looking for a Streaming Media Specialist. (I'm not sure if it's for his new company or a client of his - we were at work and didn't want to talk too loudly or long about it.) Technical Streaming Media Specialist
Position is responsible for research and development of technical approaches
to data collection and processing via the Internet for Arbitrons internet
measurement services.
Position will analyze leading streaming media technologies for use in data
collection and reporting processes.
Position will investigate alternative methods of data capture to using
leading streaming media technologies.
Position is the primary contact with internet technology and content
delivery companies in developing and implementing Arbitron data collection
and reporting technologies.
Examine log file contents/formats and make recommendations regarding
usability of the data.
Consult with production team members regarding log file contents and their interpretation.
Find new ways that enhance Arbitron Internet services so that it grows with
our clients needs.
Create solutions that maintain and enhance Arbitrons Internet information services in response to changes regarding Internet
policies, infrastructure and technology.
Use technical tools to develop solutions to data problems that impact the
service.
Keep up to date and with emerging internet technologies, including client side devices (players, and appliances), servers (streaming, web, unicast, multicast and cache).
Understand and communicate how they impact the Arbitron Internet service.
Assist Sales force in pre-sales onsite demos and technical questions.
Assist in customer installations, configurations, and initial support.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years experience with streaming media and web page log file formats and
analysis.
- 2 years experience encoding content for streaming over the Internet, including proficiency in tools such as Real Producer or WM Tools.
- 2 or more years Experience using ad serving technologies and implementing
banner ads in web pages.
- 2 or more years experience with streaming media content development using
ASP Scripting, JavaScript, HTML, SMIL.
- Experience with C++ and Java
preferred.
- Knowledge of Windows 9x, Windows NT operating systems.
- Knowledge of Internet Explorer, Netscape, RealPlayer, MicroSoft Media Player browsers.
- Knowledge of Real Server 5 and greater; MicroSoft WMT 4 and greater.
- Knowledge of caching and multicasting technologies.
- 4 year degree or equivalent
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent analytical skills
Up to 25% travel
Salary: $75,000.00 +
