Going into Christmas Best Buy hires a lot of people for OS work. OS is mostly sales but installers are always needed. I will do what I can to help people around the US. If you are in the DFW area, I can really help you. Last year I helped two forum members get jobs.
If car audio is a hobby (that is why you are here) then think about sales and installation. I am not some recruiter. I am an installer with a lot of passion.

i kno you cant give me a straight answer to this question, but how much do you think best buy will start an installer with 3 years of experience that knows how to do everything best buy sells/installs. the only kind of training that would be needed is how to use the computer systems there.

not doggin BB but i have heard too many horror stories to even consider employment there....keep in mind, no disrespect intended...but i have heard many ppl that do/have worked there that say there are too many "shortcuts" taught. ive been messin with 12v&16v electronics for several years and like many others will tell you...these shortcuts oftentimes can cause major problems that could have been avoided if 5 or 10 extra minutes had been allowed...remember, no disrespect intended towards you or any other BB employees

i'm not in tx, but i'm interested in installing at my local bb.
I don't have any shop experience but i do know how to install.
I've put in probably 20-30 h/u's A few in dvd players, about 10-15 amp wiring jobs and replaced countless coaxials.
Should i try to get my basic mecp or what, as none of the local shops have ever hired anybody that i know of. Theres only two, one is kinda lame and the other has had the same 7 guys working there for the last 4 years(judging from going in there about once a month on average)

You are only as good as your worst install. This has to be followed by everyone. All shops are not created the same but they are what YOU make of them. I have 13 years with BBY.

With no verifiable shop experience they could hire you as a tech trainee. It's an 8 week program. You start off low and get a raise when you finish the program. You get another raise for MECP. MECP with no shop experience is worth very little.

As with any company that national/regional,there will be wage variants and $16 is not the top out with my company. Murph's region has a greater per capita than say mine (the rust belt)-so wages will reflect that. Also each store has a labor budget to work with (as many businesses do) so your wage would depend on a lot of factors.
All I can say is look at the TOTAL compensation package..not just the $$$ figure.

I am guessing the MECP needs to be current? Mine expired in 2003. But I have been installing since 1989. Have worked at 7+ shops in the DFW metroplex. The last time I applied they said I was overqualified. If you can get me any info please PM me.
