Granted not audio related, but thought that some of y'all may be interested:
My boss just called me about a Help Desk position that is opening up on the support side of the contract that I work on. She's looking for someone with an A+ Cert and an Associates Degree (AA). Experience: 3 - 5 years -- will take 2 if it was an intensive placement.
Salary Range (depending on exp): 30 - 40k Relocation Benefits: Not that I'm aware of (haven't been available in the past) Benefits: KICK ASS!! For less than $40/month, my wife & I are covered for full medical, dental and eye.
If I'm remembering the classrooms correctly: ~150 PIII and P4 workstations w/21" monitors and networked printers and 1 projector per classroom to support.
OS: NT; planned migration to XP (uncertain of dates of migration) Software: MS Office Proprietary Software: Lots. Do not have to be fluent in proprietary software, but once trained on what they are, staff are expected to at least be conversational ("Oh yah, the files for that are here, here and there"). Location/Campuses: 2 1 Campus = 2 buildings with labs 1 campus = I'm not sure, I've only been in that campus once
Location: Crystal City and Alexandria Virginia, USA (just outside of DC - can see RR International Airport & the Capitol - at least from the CC campus)
Interview/Hiring: ASAP
POC: greg.beyerlein@uspto.gov (me). I'll then forward the resumes onto my boss. I don't know if she'd like me putting her e-mail address on a forum.
Type of experience looking for: Hardware installation, software installation (desk-side or via network), able to pick up a 21" monitor if necessary, at least familiar with Networks and how they work, able to adhere to .gov security standards and practices, etc.
We normally teach in the morning and afternoon: 9 - 12 & 1 - 4. Tech Support helps the instructors get the rooms ready (Instructor normally does this, but TS needs to be available for any problems) and maintain the computers between breaks and/or between classes. Some days = nothing goes wrong. Other days = feet burn from going so many different places at once. I'm part of the instructing corps, but help out when I can with the TS tasks - the direct supervisor is a great guy to work with. It can be a hectic pace and depending on the scenarios with the client, it can be very demanding. I like the clients I work for, but they can be very demanding at times (zero turn around time with zero room for error - "You gave me impossible last time, why not this time?!").
Client = USPTO.gov Company that is hiring (who I work for): Stanley Associates. Out of the 3 companies I've worked for in the last 5 - 6 years, I like working with/for this company the most.
Disclaimer: No, I am not a recruiter. I am not a head-hunter. I don't get jack or squat if you get an interview or a job through this posting. My boss was asked me if any of my friends and colleagues were looking for this kind of a position. I thought that some of you tech-gurus might want to know about this opportunity.
Good luck to whomever wishes to apply .
Please feel free to zap questions and/or resumes to my e-mail address: greg.beyerlein@uspto.gov - I'll gladly route them off to my boss.
