What Frequency is allowed at a normal 1x DB Drag Event? Must it be below 100Hz or 80Hz, as the rules say it must be below 80Hz ONLY if it is a multi-point event?

TermPro measuring software have filter, usualy set at 80 Hz. So even on small event you should play below 80 Hz.

But if competition is on other meters...

If you are entering a non-multi point event, should the meter be run without the 80Hz filter?

Fully caliberated termpro was used for the UK dbdrag finals.

For the initial rounds the filter was set at 100Hz for some reason.
Then for the Extreme rounds, it was then set to 80Hz, and the potential new UK record holders score went red. (playing way above 80Hz) Now this was the UK dbrag finals, it did have caliberated mics, it just was not a multi-pointer (like its very hard to get a multi-pointer out of the US, even for the UK finals)

At a non multi-pointer, you can play what the hell note you like, but it was a finals.

Comments?

Hello,
ALL FINALS ARE MULTI POINTER.
Ans Wayne teached my recently, that there
is no filter, because it is an "detector" for
higher than 80hz freq.s
If it shows the red flag, the competitor is
out of competition. No other way...
The rules tell no other thing...

Hope that helps,

Üüüühh!!!

Maybe you should fully research before you go to an event...did you ask that question?

The event was listed on Termpro as a single point event (there is no multi point events in the UK) so surely single point rules apply OTHERWISE shouldn't the competitors be told to run to multi point rules BEFORE they start the metering.

Event organizers and national reps should try to bring dB-drag to higher level, not to find loop holes for better results.

I think it is organizers fault that they didn't enforce 80 Hz rule. But it is all ower now.

My suggestion is that competitor(s) with higher frequencies retune cars and go to Euro finale to show how loud they really are.

Peter

Naughty

I have heard that the 'offending' vehicle may be on it's way, if a suitable towing vehicle can be found. It played in the 90Hz range by the way and with no alternators so it should make for an interesting Finals...

Andy

Ps. Shouldn't Firestarter have that picture in his signature now

Looks a little bit different now though eh Andy?

PS, TLS rentals (national firm) do a 2 car tow truck (flat bed tow truck) on hire basis (well they do at the local depot to us in Cov) Suggest this option to Audioworld, as it may be a tiny bit more to rent, but will be a danm sight safer, AND a small truck like this will be cheaper on tolls than a tow 4x4 and trailer. (I joke not, probably half, it cost me 40 quid EACH WAY over the bridge, this is MORE than an arctic) It will also go faster than they usually do.
Are they going to try for the same ferry as the rest of us? that would be cool. Convoy?

I agree with that, Keep it simple and always use the 80 Hz rule (just like al the rest of the rules). Single or Multipoint event.

Just a tad different Geoff !!

I have no idea what ferry they are/aren't getting. I was going to go over with them but I'm in Ireland working on those days so I won't be going. Last I heard is that Paul C can't get the time off work either so I'd say it looks doubtful now. Shame really, but there's next season to look forward too.

Tomas - have you stayed with VW for the mystery vehicle ??

Anyway, it is so cool to 'get the fun back' to dB-Drag out here. It is not the same without DaNibz!
