so i am goiing to take out some wood
if i dont do it i will get suround problems

What did i say all the time. "what is that wood doing in your carrrrrr."
Take it out. Allll. [Mad]

I too have this problem now! how much space do you suggest would be good for the subs to breath?

and what affect did it have on frequency? i imagine opening up around the sub would raise the freq, but with the added box volume did it stay the same?

in my no-wall build, i tried a baffle that was 6" thick and i had to tune up to 4hz lower to get peak. and was a few tenths lower spl.

Peter,here's what I'm talking about.
the baffle
 -
here's what things look like from the back.

 -

I checked again and I do have more space then you but. still low score. and there is no steel in my baffle. 1" plate of steel here is almost $900. cutting included!

Gavin, what is with the random angled peice of wood? You would probably gain alot if your box was smooth on the inside
