Two of over 150db hitters in Finnish street were using Dali 12" subwoofers and me and my friend had SPL Dynamics PRO-12d2. Apparently those Dali guys are moving to SPL woofers.

Hello All db dragers One of the reasons why the European is loud in that classes is that no one have played on a certified meter. And that i can tell you is a big differens. I know that this is not going to make the finnish boys happy but the only thing i can say to them is ask Team Superman. They realy was expecting 170+db in European Finals but did only 166.2db. And i can say i losed a little to but not that mutch.

From what I have heard Team Superman did over 170 to their own termlab. Not the one we use at competitions. There is a difference.
Correct me if I am wrong, but from the max scores NIB beetle did in Finland and in Euro finals I would think there is about 1.5 dB (167.5 vs 166.1) drop from our meter to certified? This is assuming they played at full volume in both places.

Oh no, they didn't play at full volume in Finland!
Sure there are some difference. One thing I am little annoyed, is that if I order NEW term-lab from Wayne, do we all have to suppose it shows way too much, and why is that ?! We have got few meters even this year, and they are showing just about same numbers as the one they use in competitions in Finland.
So are all new meters from Wayne calibrated to show too much by purpose, and why the hell it is like that huh ? (sorry if I am stupid and don't understand something here...)

Hy Guys, I have a little idea. To the next Euro finals, wherever they been held, we bring all of our Termlab systems together. Than we can look where and how big the differences are. Our Team has a TermLab too, maybe we can have a look of the most european TermLab´s at the finals. Is this a good idea? Or not ?

Hello I shall try to make a few things clear a calibrator is just what it is. To know how the sensitivitet in the meter shud be if you calculate with all factor that is possible. With the calibrator it is possible to play equal loud no mather what airtemp is, the hight abow the sea and how mutch water it is in the air.. And all factor you then have desides what the meter shud show.
For exampel in Sweden a few years ago it rained a lot one show and the result from that show was impossible to get again with same stuff. And then you have this thing with the micc,s get softer if you burp it 1000 times. With the calibrator the meter allways show the same number not like it is now. Sometimes the meter can jump one db up and no one nows what happent.
One thing is that i am very sure of is that a calibrated mic or meter is stiffer than the regular mic, but how mutch depends in all the factors i earlier said. And one thing more whan you calibrat you must have the new silvercolored mic.

I was thinking that maybe Wayne calibrates all packets he sends. At least all those new ones have shown very close same numbers.
Sure the location makes little change, but I don't think it can be just that, so the new meter in US would show few dB less than in Europe...
Can someone tell me little more about the calibrator, for some reason I thought it is some 'closed' system that doesn't get much effect what kind of wheather it is...

Jani It is a little box that sounds 164db in 60hz and it has a little hole and one botton and when you place the mic in the hole and press the botton the meter shud show 164 db. And then you take a little of depending on hight above the sea and how mutch water it is in the air. There is a list and in that list you read out what corrections shud be done. And this thing is made by Audiocontrol and its name is MC 100. But the price is not funny.

Thanks R, that is what I was thinking. In your first post about that you could of imagine the calibrator itself takes weather conditions and all into consideration.
