How much was the fine for 1400kg over weight?
I wonder what had happend if we had been pulled over in 2004. I think that the Fiesta weight was around 2500-3000Kg and the trailer had a maxload of 910Kg. "Max Total weight" (max load and the trailer together) was 1300Kg. With my driving licence I was alowed to pull 1350Kg with the Saab, and with a "Heawy trailers driving licence" the car was alowed to pull 1500Kg.

We had to pay 150 and the Driver get 3 Points to the KBA (www.kba.de)......
If a Driver get more than 18 points for differnt mistakes like driving to fast, wrong parking, alcohol/drugs etc... in Germany, he will lost his drving licence !!!!

My BeXtreme + trailer total weight is less than 2800 kg.
Of course it is litlle bit illegal bnecause i can haul only 1500kg with my "van" but it in paper it is legal I had been stopped to times by polices and there wasn't any issues. I hope that this luck will be continued...

They can estimate if a car is overload and when they think this, they stop the trailer. They don't controll every car, but when, then you have maybe a problem.
When our car or trailer is overload 20% they forbid the continuation of one's journey.
I think in France it will be worse if teh trailer is overload.
Without batteries, amps and woofers out car+trailer weights about 2300kg.

If you referring to EF > dont worry > you only need to drive 40 Km or something like this in France , most part you will drive in Belgium ; and overhere its a bit the same like in Germany , only no point system yet . Just put the extreme nice on the trailer , so it looks safe and ok and most part you guys will be ok . ( dont say i posted this )

Swedish driverslicens: B= Normal car licens. Max total weight 3500Kg, for the car. Or max total weight for car AND trailer = 3500Kg.
BE= Normal car licens with heawy trailer licens. Max total weight 3500Kg for the car, and then you can pull a trailer as long as it isnīt heawier than what the car are alowed to pull, you find that in the cars "register papers".
C= Truck licens. CE= Truck with heawy trailer.
If you donīt have an "BE-driverslicens",this is how it works in Sweden:
With a normal driverslicens the TOTAL weight of car and trailer (with load)TOGETHER is 3500Kg.
An old Saab 900 are alowed to pull 1350Kg on a "B-licens" and 1500Kg on a "BE-licens".
Example: (With only a "B-licens") If you have a trailer that has an "Maxximum Total Weight" (this is the trailer plus the maxload togheter)of 1500Kg in the "register paper", you CANīT put this trailer even without load on the Saab we had. Even if the trailer weigh is 1350Kg or less at the moment.
Example 2: To drive a Hummer H1 in Sweden you need a "C-licens" a.k.a a Truck licens.
Example 3: If you put an 1500Kg trailer on the SAAB an only have an "B-licens" and drive with it without load = actual weight is less 1350Kg (which you are alowed to pull with your "B-licens"), it doesnīt mather! If the cops stops you they will take your driverslicens, for "unlawful-driving".
But if you have an 1350Kg trailer and load it so itīs actual weight is 1500Kg they will just give you a fine for "over-wight", isnīt that wonderfull?
Thatīs why we used a trailer without boggie when we had the Fiesta.
Example 3: If you have for example an IVECO DAILY (almost like a Sprinter). You can pull Max 2600Kg if you have an "BE-licens". But if you only have a "B-licens" you can only pull 750Kg! This is just insane, you can pull 1350Kg with the little Saab but only 750Kg with a big car like the Iveco.

How can the police tell how heavy the extreme car is?
Just by looking, they can't.
If the towing vehicle looks in good enough condition and is road worthy, and also looks big enough to tow the trailer and car, in the UK they'll leave you alone.

If the BAG takes you off the road, they have mobile weight machines, if the normal police catch you, they take your car to a weight machine were they control weihgt of trucks and other heavy cars.
