IMO: just like I explained in Advanced... part: As long as your score goes higher (cycles of sample rate) you are OK. When you see that your score will not increase after couple of seconds than stop (save battery).

But there might be other factors too. Speed of computer might have some influence on sampling time...

Otherwise some of the loudest people (dB-drag wise) are reading this part. They might give you some of their experiences. If they will not apear here, you might ask at: www.cnabbs.net

Well, from my experiences of db drag racing, I have found that there are many variables which may influence how long you "berp" for. For example, in my street 1-2 car, I would hold the berp for about 3 seconds, just long enough for it to register on the computer. I would then let it rest for 10 seconds, and try the frequency above the last one for 3 seconds until it registers again. Then number will probably change, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worst. So right before time runs out, I play a frequency below the first one that I had played. Again, it may change for the better or the worse. I have found that temperature and the amount of people holding your car together can change your loudest frequency. Best thing to do is to find your frequency, and when you are qualifying, do what I told you to do, so that when you go into the later rounds, you have determined what frequency is working the best for you that day. Hope this helps a little.
