I can't say for whole Europe, because each state have it's own market and different buying power. I live in small (BS) country with only 2.000.000 people and relatively small buying power.
I am importer, but I am not making any big money out of that. At least for now. I have big plans for this season, but we will se what will happen.
Otherwise we charge our customers app. 15 USD per hour, but in western Europe that can be 2x, 3x more.

22% is the VAT (value-added tax) on most of the procuts. It is less in some, like food etc... I think you don't have to think about that. Almost everything is more expensive here, so prepare
I think we have been talking about the shops in our bbs already. Personally I don't know the shops in Helsinki since I don't live near. But like guys have pointed out, if you'll be here on April 13-16 you definately should go to American Car Show.
Come to check us, it's only 200 miles from Helsinki

I just want to state that % of tax don't mean anything. It is more in local customs and competition to determine price. While it is possible to say, that price for one item is similar in US it is almost impossible to say that for Europe. So some Items might be cheaper in Finland even tax is higher than in Slovenia, and something might be more expensive in Slovenia with lower taxes.

And 24% in Norway

and lets not forget that the average income could be completely different........ if i made lets say $1000/wk and an amp was $500......and bob across town/ocean makes $500/wk and the same amp cost him $250....he would be in the same boat due to the "cost of living" and the cost percentage. i think you know what i mean although this can get a little confusing.
