Well I can only say something about how or why in Finland.
I think one of the biggest reasons why we have become loud is that almost all our competitors share their knowledge, there is very little "national competition" (which can be bad and good) and when there is it is not done by "fighting". Like I have said earlier, the biggest secret is that there are no secrets
Of course our guys competes against each other aswell, and can naturally be little bit dissappointed when loosing, but I think their main idea is to be loud when looking all around the world. And so far they have succeeded quite nicely.
But it is very important and cool when "you guys" beat the records and set new goals. So we are, or at least I am very pleased when other guys are loud and louder, that pushes our guys to work harder and harder.
One thing that also made our guys loud was that they did not take things as the absolute truth if some for example U.S competitor said "the bigger the box the better". They started testing and testing and didn't believe everything that was thought how things work. This goes especially in Street classes. In Extreme... was it in 2000 when a Team from Sweden (THE GREAT N.I.B with a green beetle) beat all the extreme finns by 6 or more dB's! After that the development started. I would say that classic Nathan Munson "look" was the first thing our guys started doing good numbers, but after that it's been something they have come up with just building and testing.
A big credit should also be given to few guys in Finland who are quite dedicated to the sport and everything that makes your car loud. And they have shared their knowledge and experience and helped others. But nobody gets "ready solutions", everybody has to work and do the testing, that's the only way to do it right!

I also must admit that there is a lot of cooperation and sharing knowledge around Europe. Every top competitors that I talked with him, told me a lot of interesting things and details about SPL and car audio in general.
And this is one of THE things that makes this sport even more interesting!!!
