Alright, going to log my progress on this build. I tend to work fairly slow and steady as Im a major perfectionist particularly when Ive never built anything like this before so bare with me.

Goals for this setup in no order:
burp a 160+
bassrace a 157+
front stage sound clean and crisp and look good
play all kinds of music and be responsive

Vehicle to start is an 81 malibu wagon. My ex-drag car that I'll be converting.
 -
 -
 -
Setup will be:

pioneer deh-p940mp HU
focal k2p components...might do 2 sets this time havent decided yet.
100 watts to each side of components, 200 watts if i use 2 sets
200 amp ext reg team shadow alt
powermaster step down module
(16) kinetik or powermaster (havent decided yet) 16 volt batts.
(4) American Bass 500.1s
(12) DC Audio Level 4 18s with level 5 coils

Enclosure is going to be a diamond tunnel which is basically a 4th order bandpass.
69 cubes to start with everying 3" thick except back wall at 4.5" thick.
After all my displacements and a 3 layer countersunk baffle I have 36.42 cubes shared between all 12 woofers in their sealed portion which is a little large for my liking. Might depending on how the numbers work out I might make the walls thicker or the baffle..or both.

Tunnel portion is 556 sq inches of port and 60 1/4" long. Tunes to 20 hz on paper

Im relying heavily on the amount of cone area I have and less on having a really efficient design. The cone area Im using works out to be more than:
17 15s
27 12s
39 10s

Ive got some work ahead of me just in order to make the car driveable on the street before the setup goes in as this was an ex-drag car.
Need to drop in another motor, change rear ends, put defrost back in, put wipers back in, maybe put power brakes back in, carpet etc

Heres some starting pics

possibly the ugliest door panels ever created...atleast theyre power tho other than the mirror
 -

gotta swap these seats out for something more comfortable with moveable tracks...and real seatbelts are going back in
 -

this is all ive really done so far thats worth mentioning. strengthing my roof skin and making it even with the horizontal roof braces with 1/2 mdf thats kerf cut to match the contours of the roof itself. Unfortunately I ran out of PL9000 for the last part of the front pieces and used silicone which as you can see didnt do me too well.
 -

any thoughts or suggestions please send em my way either through here or via pm. Its my first build of this size and first wall that is built inside the vehicle so Im a little out of my element.

why swap motors and defroster etc???? daily driver?? If so, then i understand... but i think it would be a NICE SUPRICE to hear a race motor through some supertraps, or flowmasters.... just add the electronic "flap" for exhaust... freeflow to muffler.. i think tha would be sweet

swapping motors because ill be driving this to shows. it wont be a daily driver persay. I could tow it...but my tow rig gets around 9mpg....without the trailor.

 -

Plus this is a bassrace vehicle not an elite superstreet setup...its designed to groundpound on the streets. Gotta drive it to enjoy it.

my thoughts behind this design were to get as much cone area as cheaply as possible. So obviously 18s are going to be used. I needed a design that would accomodate a lot of them but still allow for low tuning.

Im excited to get started on this. Oh cant forget...the whole car will be built outside with no carport in BC weather aka rain rain rain! We dont get much snow where I am it just rains 300 days a year.

Little update...got some tint on the back windows. No peaking! And by tint I mean they were spray painted from the inside.

This last pic also gives you a good indication of how low the car is....or how tall the "tow rig" daily driver is [Big Grin]

its a better idea in theory...but measurements dont allow for anywhere near as many design options. The inside of my wagon interior actually looks a lot like ur jimbo just with an extra 2 feet or so cargo area depth.

We'll see how it holds up to the wrath of low tuned SPL though.

Wagonized,

I'm not sure I understand why this design is a 4th order bp? Are all diamond tunnels 4th order bp's?

if the tunnel goes right to the back its a 4th order and the tunnel itself is your port. and the woofers in their sealed chamber around the tunnel.

if it were open at the back its a 6th order BP. My original plan was to leave the tunnel open and only do 8 18s but I like this way better.

Got a little started on the frame work..nothin special. Im not big on working in the dark.
