Keep in mind the frequency is at the dash. We had it tuned to 40hz at first doing almost 150dh but it took more power and since Mike listens to mostly rock and house and not much rap it sounded like crap for the higher bass but lower bass was stupid. Now that it's 45-46hz it's very punchy and rock is killer and still plays down to 38-40hz pretty well.
Subs are taking 2000w fine but not to much more power before we start heating up coils. System could do better with some DD G motors.

Is there more to this build? I am interested because i may be acquiring an oldsmobile intrigue which is basically the same car. Do you have more pictures? Where are the amps? I dont know if it was stated earlier or not but what size port is that? Thanks

No more pics cuz we haven't taken any. But amp is a Stetsom 4k2d producing 2200w at 8ohms after impedance rise. Port is a 7.5" aeroport and subs are two DD9912's. Everything tuned at the dash 45hz. Crazy loud and very efficient. Feel free to ask any questions.

How did you get that aeroport? Im really interested in the box design and trunk layout. I have a little more power than your set-up but i will probably be tuned lower but would like to try and bassrace around the same 49.9. Any help or more info would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark.

Depending on how low you want to tune is to determine the size of the box. We wanted it tuned to mid 40hz range for my friends music listening. In the Alero 5.3cf tuned to 40-42hz but wasn't very punchy but the low bass from 38-42hz was nuts. We went to 4.5cf for the mid 40hz tuning. And going smaller gained spl with less power and gained a lot of efficiency also.
You can make the port out of pvc or wood.

Did you ever get metered when the box was at 5.3cf? Or could you judge a little at how much louder 45hz in the new box is compared to 38-42hz with the 5.3cd?

I'm assuming you haven't read this post? It's all in here. 149.5 with 5.3cf 42hz and 150db even 4.5cf with about 700w less power then the 5.3cf box due to higher impedance rise with smaller box.
So the actual gain was about 1.2db because we gain .1db for every 100w.

i compete in Meca and i was wanting to know how well your set up metered at the headrest. i have a design something like yours in a 97 honda accord and i am having trouble getting it to meter. mine is ported on the driver side with a slot port.

I don't compete meca but I do know at the headrest lower frequencies meter louder then higher frequencies. At least that what it seems to be. But I've never tested at the headrest.

thanks man i was just wondering what it would do. mine seems to be really loud to my ears but not on the meter. how can you shorten the waves so that it will meter at the headrest.

Depending on your current frequency tuning you can play with box size and position either it be facign forward or back. You really need a meter to do some testing.
