I know that this is an audio forum but my question is still about your SPL machine. I was wondering what modification the bronco has unrelated to audio such as the size and brand of you lift, if you switched the rear end out and if you have any motor mods. And if not do you have any plans for it. Also what made you run Boggers other then they are the meanest DOT legal tire? Just wondering? Posts: 77 | From: Houston, TX | Registered: Jun 1999

The bronco has very few modification unrelated to the audio install. We have 6" Ranco lifts. The rear end was changed to a 9" custom ford rear end. We were having problems with the factory rearend because of the extreme amount of weight in the back. We also have 2 sets of air bags. The engine is the original. The only changes under the hood is the 2 - 250 amp Ohio Generator Alternators. The Boggers were purchased in 1996 and at that time, they were the meanest looking tire we could find. We are looking for a different set of rims and tires. Not sure just what we will get.
Thanks for asking.

Concrete? The bronco will weigh in at about 14,000 lbs this year - we think. It is all steel and aluminum with a dash of 2-part foam and dynamat.
When you think of the old install - 1 inch aluminum enclosure, 64 woofers, 32 amps, 32 caps, 55 batteries, 1 inch glass, reinforced rear end - it all adds up to a very heavy truck! We have no cement in the truck. We like working with metal. The new install will be heavier. Thanks for asking.

Don't say that. Don't say "concrete" or "cement". It's not nice : )
It's been covered in a few mags, so it's safe to say that the bronco uses aircraft quality aluminum honey comb sandwiched between sheet aluminum wherever necessary for reinforcement. Even though it's aluminum, it's not exactly light. Also, there is a ton of bracing going on in that beast. The same way you'd brace an enclosure to withstand the extreme stresses of SPL, the bronco uses bracing in the doors, floor, roof, side panels, and wherever else it'd be needed. Alma tells me that the bronco (which comes up to about my first roll of fat on my belly) will drop about 10 inches when the install is done.
