In the recent issue of car stereo review, the kicker ad states that they already won 75% of the IASCA SQ trophies. Must be nice to have such a good SQ sub in the worlds largest SPL system...

Funny that they would put the square woofers in the ad talking about last year's results. I was in Greenville and I never saw a square woofer in a car...

Well according to the hype, they should kill the old ones- which isn't that hard to do. I had a Kicker rep once tell me that the old Solos could compete SPL wise with Strokers, I have a hard time believing that one.

Virtually any subwoofer can be utilized in a winning SPL system if the installation is good enough. However, i know for a fact that the stroker would murder at least the old solos if not the new ones. Im not talking about taste, and im not saying that the solos suck, im jist simply stating the fact that they wont beat the strokers (SPL Wise of course).

That add is reffering to kicker products not speakers alone.
Don't forget Car Toys uses Kicker products and with people like Rob Rice,Mark Eldridge,Gary Bigs, and Frank R. all from OKLA and are top competitors. Those 4 alone rap up a large # of throphies just by themselves.

At the 1999 IASCA finals, Kicker equipped systems did win 75% of the pro classes in SQ. Kicker won Pro 1-150, 301-600, and 601+. They also won Novice 301-600, Amature 151-300, and Amature 301-600. Of 14 classes from novice to expert, Kicker won 6 of them. And in almost all the classes, one or more Kicker equipped systems placed in the top 5. Overall, Kicker won more trophies than any other company in SQ. IDBL may be another story though.
Mark Eldrige now works for Kicker and lives near the factory in OK.

My young friend - read that add again - I believe it says something to the effect that Kicker has taken 75% of the PRO FIRST PLACE trophies. Not total trophies in Sq. Big difference.
If the L7 is in that add, it is just to let people see that new product. This is not unusual in the advertising world.
Now, why are you so critical of Kicker and the L7? Is it because of the company or me? I am extremely curious about your posts. What have we done to make you critize the company and my ability to make sound decisions?

Yeah.. it is also amazing what 3 "SQ" woofers can do... Ask Mertzig... 166+ !!!
I have yet to actually hear the new L7s, there is a guy at the shop I go to, he ordered his to put 6 L7 15s in a wall. So when he gets them installed, I'll let you know how they sound.

Well there is no such thing as a SQ or SPL sub. In fact by most top Pro/home audio people who look at the car audio industry and would say car audio doesn't really make a SQ driver. Most car audio is dictated by looks and how small a box the driver can go into. SQ is a matter of taste and it seems taste in car audio vs home is very different. Even in SQ competitons you might to look at your SQ score sheet and see how many points are going to SQ. I'd say maybe a total of 25 points MAX 15 points in SPL (130 db vs 145db) and 10 in SQ. Some competitors don't even use thier subs during SQ. Just because a sub is not designed to play loud in a large ported box or handle 1000s of watts of power doesn't mean its a "SQ" driver.
hummm I think iam ranting sorry

Nah, I think Randy made a good point. Hey Randy, still have any of those multimag 4000 series drivers around?
Yeah, you can drive the Bronco into the Breadtruck, and then drive everything to the show. What would you need a trailor for? God, I would hate to see the gas mileage then- it's bad enough now.
