This has very little to do with dB Drag, but it effects all of us.
My young friend in Maine had his car stolen with a new stereo system in it. Car was returned in bad shape without the system. He did not have theft insurance.
He is hurt, angry, frustrated, and without that wonderful system.
Sad thing, there is nothing anyone can do to make his hurt better, except be there as a friend.
This could be a good lesson for all of us to take more precautions in order to protect our vehicles.
Unfortunately, a crook is a crook is a crook. If they want something bad enough, they will find a way.

My condolences go out to your friend in Maine. It is truly an unfortunate incident to have a car or stereo or both stolen. Sorry to hear that your friend did not have theft insurance. Best wishes to this person!

The same thing happened to me. It feels like you were raped. I was at work and my car was stolen (liability only) and my small but decent stereo system was stolen with $1500 set of wheels. My insurance didn't pay anything, or the place I worked, and my car was damaged due to the theft, and I still drive it that way. The worst part is that I had just financed the wheels and had to pay for them for a year after the car was recovered stripped. Then the cops wouldn't do anyhting either. Please tell your friend I know EXACTLY how it feels and I send my best wishes and e-mail me if he wishes to talk about it.

Alma, tell him that it will get better! I too know the feeling of such loss and it isn't cool at all! I think that anyone who steals car stereo equipment should be shot!
The thing is, if you come back twice a s loud, that will show the creep that they didn't get the last laugh!

My system got stolen two weeks ago. NO INSURANCE EITHER. My ride was parked at the University of Arkansas, came out and my system was gone. Right now i have no deck, just wires hanging. It sucks bad. So now i've got a job and am busting my back side to get my system ready to compete in a couple of weeks.

Sadly, it's a feeling you'll never forget or get over . It's one of the harder lessons in life, and to try to console someone who has been violated in that way in mere written words dosen't give that kind pain justice. The real problem with a theft like that isn't the loss of the material items or the damage done to the car, but it's the illusion of safety that has been striped away. To have something that you pour your heart and soul into because you love it, something that you work hard for that brings you joy, striped away from you by someone that probably dosen't even know or care your alive....that's the real pain. The realization that other human being's can take without reservation or give a second thought as to who they hurt. I know I'm probably not much help, but I think we all need to step back on occasion and forget about material possesions, and look at the damage we do spirtualy with our greed and want. It's not the lose that hurts, but the act itself. Karma is everywhere, and life is but a cycle, and that theif will pay with his soul.
(btw...I'm really not normally this "weird", but I felt rather inclined to voice how I realy feel on this subject, so I apoligize for anyone who takes offense or just plain dosen't understand what I'm trying to convey.)

Snot that is how i have been able to get past this whole experience. I am also a Nascar fan. A couple hours after my system got stolen i was watching the news and they told about the death of Adam Petty. It makes you remeber that there are more important things in life. Qoute from the movie KIDS "if you cant make the hurt go away just forget about." Easier said than done. Good things have come out of the sistuation; i have a new job that i love and it pays well, i know that an alarm and insurance are always need, and if you have a detachable face deck REMOVE THE FACE.

That's a hard thing to deal with. I just finished my truck this week ($6000+) and wanted to dress it up (stickers, badges, etc) and my installers flat out refused to help. Basically it's a big advertisement, as is running the stereo in/around where you park it. This stuff happens all the time here in my little upstate NY town, 2-3 a week in the papers. I'm not saying that this is why your friends car was taken, but I see car after car, with 4-6" stickers in the windows riding around booming. Can they be honestly surprised when their car/stereo get stolen? I park in NYC alot, and w/o ripping stuff open, my truck looks stock. Just my .02

When the bronco was broken into a couple of years ago - I was so angry - all I wanted to do was bodily damage! Its been almost 2 years and I am still angry - There was nothing I could do - except go on and make the best of it - Those creeps broke into my car and took my stuff! I told anyone who would listen that it would be in the best interest of everyone if those amps were dropped into the lake because if they ever surfaced I would file charges. None of the stuff ever showed up, so I assume the amps became trophies from the bronco for someone. That thought hurts more than the actual theft because is could have been someone who attended the show and that I had met.
If someone wants to steal, they will find a way. But we can take precautions - alarm systems, low key logos or no logos on the car, etc. If someone is going to steal, make them work to do it!

Yeah you can't really trust anyone. I think that many people in my town no exactly what I have. For that reason, they know how difficult it would be to steal my setup (at least trying to get the majoritey of it) and it would be a pain in their ***. Then again, if they want it bad enough then they will not stop until they get it. One thing that I have noticed these past few years in my town is that every year we have a little festival which has a car show and what not among are people. Which means, about a month or two before, many thieves are out looking to hit someone up so they can look good in the show.

What a sinking feeling. To have your property violated like that. Was probably the angriest I ever got, after seeing that some [insert appropriate string of 4 letter words here] broke into my truck and stole my CDs, portable CD player and ransacked every cubby in the truck. I could have claimed that I had this super-duper system in there, the cops were trying to let me, but I didn't want to go to jail for insurance fraud. This happened, 4 - 5 years ago, just finally got around to replacing my CDs.
I can certainly empathize with your friend Ms. Gates. Hopefully, after the anger subsides and the *kick thineself in the rear* has passed, your friend can dust off and move on. Not easy, but as was aforementioned, that which doesn't kill me, only makes me more ticked off and a stronger mofo to bring down (or something to that effect ).

I get way to paranoid that I'm going to be next. I live out in the country in an area that is normally very quiet.
In the past month there have been three thefts on my road that has about 25 homes on it. One guy had his two jet skits taken, another his system and exaust system! and the third person had their car put up on cement blocks, rims taken off and stereo stolen.
People around here can't believe whats going on. I had one attempt on my system about 3 weeks ago. I have a two way pager alarm system, woke up about 3:30AM with my pager beeping and my alarm going off. Chased three or four guys to the end of the road with my bat but they had a van waiting with a friend driving at the end of the road and I couldn't catch them.
I wake up all the time now and check my car to make sure everythings still there. Just the thought of losing it all is enough keep me up at night.

I know exactly what you mean Mcfrosty. That is the reason that I want a 2way paging alarm. Of course, I will have at least 3 sirens under the truck and at least 2 mini piezo sirens in the dash speaker holes just waiting to hurt some fools ears.

When my car broke down after going to my first comp, we had to leave it over 100 miles away from home, at a gas station near Detroit, overnight. Next day, nothing was touched. 5 months later, I go to my grandpa's funeral, leave my car at home in my yard, come back a few hours later and everything is gone. Go figure.
But I am at least getting it back.
Having your system or ANYTHING stolen out or offf of your car is like your car being raped.

Sucks to hear the bad news but theres a positive side, bigger, better, and much louder!!! I know the feeling of being broke into and I figured out how my truck was broke into also, that problem will never happen again.
Hope he finds happyness back in car audio, i almost never got back into car audio after my entire system was stolen while i was out bowling.
Good luck and prosper. To your Friend.
