I know it is probably not said a whole lot but i sure i speak for alot when i say Thanks to Alma for coming into chat rooms all the time and taking the time to answer questions she is bombarded with. I get to meet alot of people at shows and so on but alot of the kids dont have a chance to travel and go to shows across the country and she takes time to answer alot of questions and does seem to mind it in the least.. kinda wonder what you could hear her say only if it was Voice chat, lol. but it is really nice to see someone take the time and talk with future competitors coming up, i am sure you have inspired alot of people.

Well said James, she has shown alot of people out of the car audio surroundings that we do care about people and there need, just like Toys for noize, she didnt have to do what she did but she took it with open arms to help the less fortunaut(cant spell). She is truely an inspiration to me and Im still and awwwe when I see her at shows. I really appreciate what she has done to the sport and how its more recognized to the public. Thank you Alma

I have to agree!! I believe that all competitors can learn a lesson from Alma... we should all remeber that one time not long ago, we all dreamed of doing what we do now- these spl competitions and having a vehicle worthy enough to get to the finals due to our dedication to the sport. So, in short, we should follow Alma's example and always take time to open our vehicles to the spectators, allow pictures to be taken, and try to answer questions that we may see as "below our intelligence". We must remember that we too asked questions at one point to learn what we now know, and realize that even with what we know, we still don't know it all, and just get lucky sometimes, after all. Maybe I just speak for myself on the lucky part... lol!!

Hands down to all that have posted here. You can not say it any better then what has already been said by the previous posts. I'd like to add something from myself to Alma Gates herself.
I know I've said this many times over but it is how i feel. Alma, You have been the main reason why I even stayed in car audio at all. I probably would of never even thought about competiting if i would have never met you. I will be one of those open minded competitors that will talk, show, answer questions and even help other people, competitor or not, same division, class, or enemy. Alma, You have made that a common thing to me and it should be taken up by everyone else in the car audio field.
Thank You for being a great Friend, Teacher, and Inspiration to me and hundreds, maybe, Thousands of others that are involved with such a competitive sport.
Live on and live LOUD!

I also have something to add ... i've been keeping up with the news on Team Gates since god knows when an its always been a dream of mine to be on Team Gates. Im only 18 y/o but ive been in this sport for about 6 years but anyways to the point I was chatting with Alma the other day an I jus threw a question at her; the guestion was could I join Team Gates .. an she told me that she was gonna think about it. I said that was fair enough an a couple days later I im her back an asked if she had thought about it an she said ya an i asked her again if I could join an she asked me what I thought? Of course what I thought..I said I think you are going to let me join; an she said yes an explained that I was going to have to have great sportsmanship but I always have! So I should be receiveing my logos from Alma in about 2 weeks I am very honored an truly glad that my dream has come true... I havent had the pleasure of meeting Alma yet but I am sure I will in the near future!

Nod - I tip my hat to you, Ms. Gates, and Team Gates
Ms. Gates, You have been an inspiration for many, both competitors and non-competitors. From what I've read, you, along with some others, have always left your doors open at shows and answered all incoming questions. In today's age, it's great to see that a competitor, and champion, is willing to take the time from his/her schedule to talk with those who may one day face him/her in the lanes.
I think there was a time when other sports had icons who would take time out to offer pointers and tips. But, sadly it seems that is not always the case.
I'm very glad to see that you, Ms. Gates, have continued the tradition of taking time out for your fans, fellow enthusiests, and current/future competitors.
I ramble - my apologies.

Y'all stop kissing her a$$, you're not getting any more free stuff : )
Seriously, normally I would have no problem going on ad nauseum about what a great person Alma is, but I think everything has already been said already. So mark your calander: The Lizard has nothing to say.
-- Lizard PS: I still think Alma School Road has to be named after a former School Teacher turned SPL competitor...it's too much of a coincidence : )
