Hello,
I do plan on deadening my car with the hi-temp mastic stuff to reduce on costs. Now that only stops the vibrating metal and whatever else it is attached to. Only thing is that it does not stop the sound from escaping the car. I plan on putting a massive system in and am worried about being pulled over by cops or getting complaints. So what products would absorb the sounds trying to escape the car so that the car seems quieter from the outside? Get what Im saying? Thanks. Matt

Well, the sound 'escapes' the car by hitting the body and making it vibrate in sync to it, essentially turning the whole thing into another speaker. By keeping the body from vibrating you keep it from transferring that energy.

Cover all panels at least twice with mat and fill up any unused cavities behind panels with expanding foam. That will help...

Hello,
So you're saying that if I put manylayers of damping on the metal that the only place sound will escape is through the windows and maybe a little through the metal? What about this product I found at http://www.soundseal.com/ss202.html This stuff looks like it really stops the noise. Has an NRC of 1.05 which is the rating for sound absorbtion. Considering dynamat is still down below 1 this number seems good. Do you think it'd help with car stereo? Matt

I have never seen that product in use but I notice 2 things:
1) ...rating UP TO 1.05

2) ...up to 4" thick!!

I think those 2 may go hand in hand....
