I have been deciphering(sp) my options on installing a plexiglas baffle i guess you could call it behing my rear seat. Its a 60/40 folding seat and i was planning on putting the piece of plexiglas behing it and some how sand blaster or engraving my car club symbol into it and have it illuminated with some neons.

So my question is... What would I use on the engraving/sand blasting part? What tools or parts are involved in doing such an act?

I read Mabeita's plexiglas info but it seemed a lil vague in explaination of this subject.

Thanks for any helps given. [Big Grin]

One tip I can give you is for the sandblasting you need something very sturdy to be the mold... Obviously there is no tape that I know of that can withstand any amount of sandblasting...

What I would recommend is cutting your logo out of thin(ish) wood and clamping that on to the plexiglass and getting it sandblasted that way.

If you do want to engrave it and not sandblast it you could look into using a dremel, a router might possibly work, but those usually move a bit too fast, or you may want to look into mylar sheets from an arts and crafts store, they usually used to give a smoked-glass look.

there is actually a masking material made for sandblasting. the stuff that i used to use in shop class to put designs into mirrors. it was blue in color and kind of plastic. it was like a big decal that you lay down and then we would put our design over the stuff, cut through with a razor knife and then we would peel up the parts that we wanted blasted. for the big areas that needed protection, we just used a whole bunch of newspaper and masking tape.
