I just complete making the lower portion of a spare tire well box for my freinds car. since he has the same kind of car as me (Toyota Supra Turbo), and a few other freinds want similar boxes, im wondering if there is a simple way to copy the spare tire well box. Here is a pic of the one for his car.

http://www.supraforums.com/attachment.php?s=&postid=639006

i made it in my car, using masking tape and PVA to protect the metal spare tire well, then used air pressure to pop it out, and i used some resin-soaked rope as simple braces/ribs.

now my idea is simple, but im not sure if it would work. basically, mask the box i have now with masking tape and PVA, then lay fiberglass on it, but also fiberglassing in an air fitting (like the ones on tires) so i can pop out the new boxes. get what i mean? i just dont want to have to go throw gelcoating, etc if i can get away with doing this. since it isnt a display peice, and it will be sprayed with a thin layer of liquid sounddeadener, would it work? any suggestiosn would be appreciated. thanks!

Why not just continue making them just like you did the first one? If you want to make several, couldn't you just leave the masking tape in the spare tire well and make more? Seems like this would be easier and result in a better fit. Could be wrong though.

the smell of fiberglass doesnt bother me much, but my girlfriend hates it hehe.

i think ill end up: carnuba wax on the bottom of the box, followed by PVA, then a few layers of fiberglass. then some wood bracing to make sure it holds its shape, and then pop it out, and ill have a mold. ill still testfit in my car though.

i say that should work, to make a mold of the bottom of the current box, and then whenever you want to make a new one just put down the wax, and lay your glass. pop them out attach your baffle and boom, plenty o boxes that you can sell to all the supra aowners all over the place ands cash in your pocket.
