Ok for my IDQ 12" I want a ported box and I got a sealed one for $30 that is 1.50cf to the specs of what a ported box should be. Can I cut holes in it and use it as a ported box and if so how many ports should I use and where should I place them. Since I read q-logic uses a box 1.25cf and has 2 port holes.

That is kinda small for a ported box. With a 4inch diameter port in ~1.4cf tuned to ~35hz you would need ~17inchs in length, 3inch diameter port would be about ~9inchs long.

umm yeah too small for a ported box- and if you went with a small port like he said - 3in or so, you will get alot of port noise which won't sound good...

let me know what model IDQ 12 you have and i will tell you what size port you need. By the way the box is not to small. Your problem may be that the port maybe to long for the box you have.

rounding off the port won't cure all the noise- it is a small tube you are forcing air through that will still have alot of velocity.

I am not making it up. That is the port Image Dynamics recomends for that size enclosure. And i also ran it through term-pro and it showed no problems.
