Sorry to sound so rude but I was gonna try and start this tomorrow so I need some responses. Ok, I made a form fitting amp rack for my trunk out of expanding foam. I was going to sand it, glass it, then paint it. My question is can I just use some fleece soaked in resin then coat the foam amp rack? After I sand this and paint it will it be shiny? What do I need to do to make it shiny? Any help here would be great, this is my first fiberglass project. THANKS!!!

Yes.

You will likely need to sand, and use body putty to fill little holes and low spots, etc., but once you get everything smoothed out the way you like, you can paint it (primer it first if you want the best results), and then after the paint has cured, wetsand and polish it. For best results, use automotive paint, not spray cans. You can use a one stage paint for the easiest, and quickest finish, or two stage (base coat/clear coat) for the finest finish, but more work.

Good Luck.

What about a chrome spray paint with laguer on top? Will that be shiney enough?

It won't look like chrome no matter how much you try.

Enamel or laquer spray cans CAN look good but they need to be wet sanded and polished too...

Instead of the fleece you can also use jean or sweatshirt material. Where can you buy automotive paint in retail? Does it come in a can like house paint?

Yes, it comes in cans sort of like regular house paint. It can be found by looking in your local Yellow pages (or equivalent) under the Automotive section, and find PAINT Supply or something similar. Call around and you should find what you need.

You can probably order it online through a few sources too.

I would avoid denim - it doesn;t stretch...

Most paint stores (eg. General Paint) sell Marine enamel paints. I painted an Alpine display with this and it worked well.
