Well I was wondering if I should start putting two layers

------------------

My possible system
2 Shocker 15's
2 1000 watt amps not for sure on what yet?
1 Kicker Zr 120 for mids and highs
Fosgate Cd player
Clifford Micro wave alarm
And one big @ss box!

Lots of times you can double up half inch for cheaper than single 3/4".

Even better would be double 3/4". If that sounds rich, use K3 particle board for the 'inside' layer. It adds mass and strength and, being 2 different materials, it will help damp resonances naturally.

I know quite a few draggers with 4+ layers of 3/4" for their baffles...

i build custom boxes every day at work, plus have built four different boxes for my van. custon kick pods, and amp racks. if you give it to me i can build anything.

Well I am going to do that. Should I buy anything to but in between the two layers? Like glue or something? or just screw them together?

use wood glue between the layers because it will spread evenly betweenthe two layers of wood so that it does not have empty pockets between the two layers.

That cheapo-krap that inexpensive bookshelves (and cheap pre-made woofer boxes)and what not are made of. It resembles medite but the particles it is made up of are not as fine so it is more porous.

Just to add to that, try screwing them together from the center outward to prevent those pockets from forming and drying that way.

Do you think it would help if I increased the thickness of my front baffle? There is no obvious massive flexing of it now. But that might change with the new subs and increased power...

This was the box I used in my camaro....two layers of 3/4" fibercore oak. the layers were glued together, then screwed together from the middle to the outside to prevent air pockets....this box was a tank!! I'd definatly reccommend doin it.
