Is it conceviable, if not practical, to use standard ole roofing tar as both a sealent and a sound deadener? I still got me leaky trunk, and I was wondering if just taring the piss out of it would be advisble. Thanks!

Sounds like a good Idea to me, but wouldn't that have a pretty good smell to it if your car's been sitting in the sun for awhile?

- just wondering, never used roofing tar before.

Tar will soften up again in the heat too...

Not cool in a trunk that gets hot in the summer.

I dont know if this helps but on my bug i am rebuilding i am using a rubber undercoating for the bottom and truck bed liner for the top of the pan. I hope for me this will deaden any sound and what not. And instead of the smoke bomb idea try dry ice and water. Ask the perishibale manager at your local grocery store if you can have the dry ice that comes out of their bunkers.
