first are i am assuming your box is sealed? it will help cut standing waves, as for taking the place of poly it's not the same and it can cause serious problems for your subs.... insulation is made of fiberglass particles and fibers that can make there way into the pole piece then the voice coil then OUCH.

Can't poly also creep into the pole and cause a meltdown if not properly stuffed? This insulation is still on the "brown bag" backing, just wondered about your opinions.

i agree with danny, glass fibers which are about a tenth the diameter of polyester fibers which would make it less possible for them to get into the voice coil area, i am not saying that it couldn't happen, it is only less probable that it would. i have never had a problem with polyfil myself but like danny said i hope your box is sealed!
