from what I've seen......and according to popular opinion of others, stuffing your box will lower your increase you low output response, and decrease your spl 1-2db....if you want spl...don't stuff it.

ok....i totally sounded like a four year old in that post.
basically, stuffing your box will increase your spl at very low frequencies, while lowering your spl 1-2db for all frequencies above that...it's basiclly used for sq to even out the frequency response of a driver. if you're going for spl, don't stuff it.

whether or not you have a vented or sealed box(not previously mentioned) you would not want to fill your box. in a ported box the supporting wave would be reduced significantly therefor killing your output. in a sealed box cancelling standing waves internally is a good idea to decrease cone distortion, but not with poly-fil. i have had good luck with acoustic foam but i have not tested it in high pressure applications yet...

i'm sure you mean for SPL..like stated above..you will lose the efficiency of the port design if you go vented..and you merely add to the Vb(basically) when you use the material in sealed. and different weight values will determine what the Vb equivalent gain would be. so in lesser words..um...NO...don't use it for SPL. the only thing you want damped is your ass when all of your furniture is repoed by lack of payments because you have $30,000.00 in stereo equipment in your car!
