Well I would like to help out this topic area more because it is new. I have a few tips listed below.

1.use 3/4' MDF for wood
2.dry wall screws always worked best for me
3.always pre drill holes
4.add the width of the wood to final measure ments
5.re-embrace for large cabinets
6.be carefun when using silicon for sealing, it can eat the surrond of your sub if installed before it dries
7.if having trouble cutting hole for speaker, you can lay the speaker on top of the desired area and draw a circle around the wood. Then you just subtract the rim from the circle and draw a new circle inside of the preexisting one.
8. when cutting out plexi glass besure to use a fine tooth bit and you have to pre drill or it will crack.
9.I use wood glue on the inside of the box and liquid nails on the outside to seal.

to add to what he said...

When drilling into plexi, make sure the plexi is firmly attached to a piece of wood (clamps and cloth) or else the bottom of the piece you are drilling may crack.

When measuring out a circle for a sub, use a compass to get the desired circle. Even better, get a perfect circle router jig from SP.

A very unused technique here- MDF is porous, so even if you plan on carpeting the box, you might want to polyurethane the outer surface of the box if you expect the box to survive for a long time.

Also if you want a really air tight box. Glass the inside. Also adds strength the the box as a whole.

When using a box that has been glassed you have to look at what you are using it for. If you just want it for SPL then fine, but if you want SQ you might want to think about adding some polyfill. The reason I suggest this is because most of the boxes I have glassed, I notice a bit of a tinny or hollow sound to it without any fill. This isn't very loud but you can hear it if you listen carefully. Adding the fill usually takes care of it. Just my thoughts.

That may be because as you make something stiffer you increase it's resonant frequency. This moves the 'boom' to a 'bonk' quite often.
I agree on adding a little fill to tame weird noises. Helps kill port chuff too.

very good suggestions bye all, glass does work great for spl and polyfill does help the glassy sound, but if you use something like a sealer . a brand for instance [killz] works best for the s.q application when porting the enclosure.

A good way to seal around the sub, if u have no sub gaskets, is Blu tac under it before u screw it down.
It works all good, you'd be surprised how much it sticks
