hey gang, i am having some problems getting the paint on a trim panal, i am painting mdf with automotive paint, everytime i spray it in about 5-30 seconds the paint turns to alligator skin, so i wet sand with 400 till its smooth, let dry over night and try again with the same results.. any idea why?

Its problably reacting with chemicals that are compressed in the mdf that becomes active when wet with paint, try a light coat of resin or automotive paint sealer first let dry properly and try to paint again. Good luck.

i have had this problem in the past too. there is a chemical in the mdf that the paint reacts to. try coating the area to be painted with a small amount of resin, then lightly sand it smooth. the end result will be alot better and the paint will have more depth and shine.

You should use urathane primer with urathane paint, just my two cents! Oil based first then urathane may react.

are u painting a pearl paint if so u are putting it on to think lightly spray it let it flash for like 10 to 15 mins then go back and add another coat
