I have 3 10" JL w3v2's and want to put them into a sealed box...I was planning on just purchasing a standard, run of the mill box for these subs...but don't know if this would be a fatal mistake or not...should I be looking for certain size specs for this box, and if so, what would those be??

I like those subs at around 1.375 NET per sub, ported.

do people really try to get that specific on there boxes?
I was basing it on the box being 11cf NET, and 8 10w3v2's. then I just divided 11cf by 8subs...1.375cf. I think we had 95si port, somewhere between 16 and 20" long, can't remember that part. The far portion of the box was opened up inside, so all one enclosure inside. built inside the trunk.

Well if you measured a ported box ,and then divided by the amount of subs minus port area ,and it came to 1.375 . Now remember for daily use, ported boxes are bigger than sealed . So depending on how you want this box to sound, (bigger box will sound boomier , smaller will sound punchier ) and how much power to each of your subs .That will play a role on what size to make the box. So the JL woofer will have a min. box size and a max box size ,this will also affect how much power it can take in that enclosure size as far as rms power . I would look at the specs of the woofer on the JL Audio site and go from there . As far as me i usually use about .8 to 1.0 cu ft per sub , I listen to all kinds of music . So just a standard triple 10 box will work ,unless you wanna build your own .
