I drive a 1996 honda accord with 6x9 infinity reference in the back and 6 1/2 up front, all ran off a 800watt kenwood amp. I want to put some 6x9s in the front because, frankly, they sound better then 6 1/2s. What work is it going to take to make a 6 1/2 hole into a 6x9 hole? I love my infinitys, so I will keep those in back, but what other 6x9s sound comparable to those? compare and contrast kinda thing, thoughts and comments please. Thanks!

cut out mdf rings that the 6x9's could drop into and be mounted to and mount them over the 6.5" holes with enough clearance for the 6x9 to fit in and be mounted to the mdf ring..

you should have seen the sh*tjob some jack@ss did on his '04 Colorado that came to the shop the other day.
He just stuck some RF Power 6x9's in the backdoors, terminals were ground on the dynamat eXtreme. The doorpanels wouldn't go back on all the way.

and 6.5" will have better SQ than 6x9's

You could get some of those sweet 6x9 boxes and screw them to your door. J/k, I also agree that the 6 1/2 does sound better. If you like oval shaped woofers then maybe try a 5x7" camponent or something. The 5x7 isn't as bad as a 6x9, and in a component it would sound better than a coaxial. I'm not sure if anyone makes a 6x9 component, but if they do go with them if a 6x9 is a must.

If i was going to make any kinds of mods to my doors it would be to put 6x9's in .Are you kinding when u say the 6x9's sound better ,god i hope so .I would do and 8 in woofer in the front before i would do a 6x9 .So just put a good 6 1/2 in and amp it properly and you will be good to go.
