the one thing that i messed up was the edges... i stapled at the edges instead of wrapping it around and stapling on the back. Now there is a little bit of a bulge and is making it hard to get the bondo nice and smooth.

Looking good. One thing to remember is that it takes alot of sanding and that practice makes perfect.

I usually rabbet in .25x.25 inches and staple the fabric in that groove. The quarter inch step gives you room to run the stapler head as well as give you room to add fiberglass without enlarging your piece.

use thinner material as a base just to get the shape...old T-Shirt or grill cloth works great here. that way you'll avoid the .5" overlap around the lip. THEN go back and use another layer or thicker material...but avoid the edge this time. Re-enforce it a little...glass it on the inside...but overkill isn't necessary at all, especially on something where FORM > FUNCTION like those pods

ps: CA glue works great for attaching material...no staples, no wait...only problem is it likes to heat up and smoke a little [Embarrassed] so be careful and always know where a cup of water is. [Wink]

too harsh for curves and corners...you'll kill that shape real quick with a 90

invest in a DA (dual action) sander...sands beautifully and hugs those corners..vibrates more rather than spins so you won't cut away too much at once. best $40 you'll ever spend at Harbor Freight.

ps -- it'll eat those staples like nothing just the same. belt sander too. but DA is my personal favorite for projects like that.
