Working with carbon fiber is basically the same as working with fiber glass. Whether or not a single layer will be strong enough depends on the weight/weave of the carbon fiber you plan on using, the same it's layed out in, and the stresses in the part.
Are you trying to make these parts completly carbon, or just going for that "look"?

Carbon fiber is stronger and lighter than fiberglass. A lot more expensive too!
I asked if you just wanted "the look", because building them from fiberglass with 1 layer of CF on top would be way cheaper. With as much cloth as it is going to take to make a bumper and wide body kit you'll be spending a LOT more in materials using carbon fiber to save just a few pounds.
How do you plan on shaping / laying up your pieces?

im going to be picking up a bumpercover off of ebey ive seen some of them go for a perty good price and as for laying it up using floral foam so i can shape the pieces wrap in tinfoil then glassit then mold to the car, so you thing that cf would be a waste of $? and not save that much weight i have about a mile of fg laying around my garage already so all i would have to buy is resin
