Well I cut a big ass hole in my trunk in order to get this muffler to fit (go ahead and laugh), the muffler generates a lot of heat so I dont think I can just use fiberglass, any ideas on how I could seal this up? sheet metal? something? the hole is bigger than the spare tire well.

What does the muffler bring to the table that made you want to zero out the value of your vehicle?
Frame off the hole with some some metal stock. Then you need to skin it with sheet metal. Fine a custom car builder in your area (not a custom honda builder, but someone who restores old vehicles) and when he gets done asking WTF happened, ask him to help you (or just pay him to do it).
Much like I can't look away from a 10 car pile up, can you post pictures of the hole and the muffler please?

thats pretty funny, how do you not realize your cutting a hole in your trunk lol oh well, we all mess up sometimes, that better be one good muffler

God I hope you don't get in a wreck. I'm fairly certain your insurance company isn't going to cover your vehicle.
You really need to find a custom car builder in your area. That hole needs to be reinforced, then skinned over, and protected against rusting. Your car is a hazard right now---find someone quick. Also---you will want a heat shield between the muffler and the skin that is added.
What benefit did the muffler add to your car? (are there other modifications that necessitated the muffler)?

nope, just wanted the sound of this muffler, I dont get it? why is it a hazard? its just basically the spare tire well? are you saying the tire well was reinforcing the entire rear?

That is some structural metal. You have weakened the entire rear end of that vehicle. I can't imagine how that portion would crumble if someone hit you from behind.

I didn't even think about the carbon monoxide. That is a very good point.
I assumed those dimples in the muffler were from the factory---are those holes that were drilled by the owner? (I'm completely out of touch on my ricer mods).

The muffler is oem from a infiniti g35 coupe, those are dimples not holes drilled for sound. As far as it being structural, I think you may have it confused with a different trunk design, the metal for the spare tire well was extremely thin, if that was deisnged for any protection in a rear-end collision, then I was doomed anyway. Thanks for the Carbon advice.

you've got a point...but regardless how thin it is, it must be reinforced especially if it's a unibody. Just makes it that much easier for the frame to twist & car to completely crumple even in a small fender bender.

i have now seen it ALL! i am having a hard time holding back on this one.
ur not a ricer running a old infinity muffler, racing pipe is what is wanted or a chrome muffler with less baffles.
cutting that out the rear of the car dose make the rear of the car WEAK! ur frame is only the sheet metal of ur car, it is a unibody every piece is needed.
besides posion gas in ur car the road noise is very loud along with water from rain. i am from NY too and hows heating the car with a hole that big.
last i am willing to put money on it after getting that fixed ur gonna need a tire aliment because ur struts have moved in driving around like that...SPLaudio
