My trunk ('94 Grand Marquis) has the bars that run end to end from the hinges. This takes up a lot of space, I've seen people use those gas shocks like lift gates have to keep the trunk open. How can I change mine to that and lose the spring bar system?

PM Winslow. He did that with his accord. He can tell you in an easier fashion how he did it, than I can (I've seen it and it is very nice job).

I've often wondered how to do this because those little torsion bars or whatever you call them keep my trunk jacked up on one side....so I would be interested on doing the same thing on my monte, but suciding the trunk has also crossed my mine.....
