i had this screen in the dash for a while and procrastinated on how i was going to tie it in. My man Andy Jones here told me to use this plastic stuff and i did.....heres how it went.
Oh ya the reason for the second screen is so i can keep my navigation on full time and not shut off whats on the bottom. I can also just leave the bottom one off but there is a purpose plus i like it there.
If you notice there WAS a grove that enclosed the whole left and right side of the piece it is all flush now
First i put some cardboard "dams" in after cutting the plastic bar that WAS in the center.
then after ALL the important prepwork (sanding, plastic cleaner, plastic prep, adhesion promoter) it was time to "mud" it in.
cardboard removed now its time to cheese grate, file, sand whatever it takes to get the shape

Oh ya, i know i could have completely molded in the front "casing" of the screen and made it real flush but i didnt want to integrate that screen in the dash for life. I can always get a new/stock dashpiece but finding a new front face for the screen would suck. (had to throw that in for the true fabricators.......there is more than one way to do it i know!)

I believe that will be a wrap for now! The paint i used over the texture is a little glossy for my taste so i can either shine up the rest of the dash with some dressing or repaint this thing a duller color. When the damn sun comes out again ill see if i want to change it or not. Gotta get a good look at it in the daylight.

The texture is Sem Texture Spray. Any SEM dealer should either have it or be able to get it. I get mine at http://www.vinylpro.com (do a search for it---it is in a weird place on that website).
Liquid Plastic is incredible. There are 101 uses for that stuff. Very easy to work with, and not a bad price either.

Damnit, I wish I would have known about that stuff before I fiberglassed mine in. Now its cracking...oh well, I'll just have to re-do it this summer.

I know, i sorta wish they were both the same color too. At least its a matching brand that makes it a little better in my mind. The mismatched color has bugged me though a little but im sorta used to it now.

ya the first thing that i thought of when i was figuring out what i was going to do was the fact the dash flexes some. Thats why i started searching for something flexible. This stuff is great, i cant wait to mold something else in.

i dont know, that would be a better question for Andy Jones, im still a rookie with this stuff. A 15" screen would be a challenge thats for sure.
