do u need a release agent, like some kind of wax, between the layer of tape and fiberglass in order to insure that all of the tape gets removed?

ummm, i only glassesd one time and i was told to use vasaline. it worked really well. Hope that helps. In my opinion, i dont see why not to use one for just in case purposes

I used to vasoline the hell out of my molds, but I started to notice that there was some warpage in the glass. Since the vasoline, or any other agent, releases so well, when the glass cures, it just pulls away from the mold and loses its shape. Now I just use aluminum foil to wrap the mold and spray pam on the bottom and the corners or any odd shape. This helps the glass hold its shape. I was mixing my resin a little hot too, so that add to the warpage.

i use only tape, that works good enough for me. is there a particular reason that all the tape has to be removed.

I use Meguiars professional mold release wax, comes in a gold can. Dudes at the boat yard I am at gave me 3 cans of it for free. Otherwise I heard that silicone spray also works well but have yet to try it.
