Hey I'm going to start working on door pods and kickpanels for my 92 mx6 LX comps in the kicks and mid bass in the doors. my question is how do you carpet them, where should I put the crossovers and is the position/imaging of mid bass speakers located in the doors that important. thanks guys

You find a carpet that can be stretched, many fabric shops will have something usable. Selectproducts.com has stuff made for it. The enclosure needs to be sanded smooth, you will be surprised at the flaws a nice carpeting job will reveal if your FG work isn't good. Use contact cement, follow its instructions and voila.

You can put the crossovers where ever you want, under the seats, near the amps, if you are FG-ing the door its not hard to make a pod for the crossover if you want to show it off.

The angle/positioning of your midbass generally is less important than pathlength difference. Get them in the doors in a manner that gives you the most equal pathlength difference between left and right. If possible, you want the baffle of the speaker to be flush with the door, not recessed into the door. And another "if possible" thing is to get them high in the doors. If you are running them as a true midbass they can draw your stage down considerably on any info that is severe left or right as you have little help from the opposite side to draw it up, this is called the "rainbow effect" Getting the midbass higher in the doors won't drag it down as much.

My car has neither of the latter 2 suggestions and it works fine. Its just not optimal.
