How can I paint my mdf box With a regular paint and make it look like a spray gun. I thought about using house paint then buffing the *%#@ out of it.

Also I am going to try to build a centre console out of fibreglass any tips before I try first time.
Any sugestions

there are certain places that can match the color of paint that you want(say your car color) and then put it in a spray can.

The first thing you want to do with MDF is seal it. It will soak up paint if it isn't sealed and primed. House paint will never match your car finish. Try to find a spray bomb (spray can) that matches or is close to your color and spray it.

Wood varnish works fine...spray it evenly and let it dry, then paint over it. Works like a charm.

I would be afraid of paint not bonding well to wood varnish. I would use a wood primer like Kilz to seal the MDF, then paint it.

I'd say seal the mdf with resin sand it then auto primer... but there's always more than one way to skin a cat.

Use a spray gun. it is going to be very hard to get the results of a gun without using one.

i would use a high build primer to seal the box and fill in all the pores, and then use your paint of choice.

sry if i sound ****y but they did a not so good job on this part... it should be a FINE finish...

and i tried spraying on MDF... i thought by sealing the box with putty cement would give me a fine result but it turned otherwise since THEN i realised that the putty needed FINE sanding... and wetsanding is totally out of the question...

after that, i tried on a small piese of MDF... i used a spray can (just for tryouts...) i gave it a layer of clear (acting as a sealer), and sprayed a layer of silver... it came out real good...

are there any other materials i can use as a sealer besides clear? i mean something that dont cost too much since this is for tryouts and if possible, something that would act as a good sealer... besides dupont primer.. tried that... heheh

thanks in advance...
