i am going to build a very elaborate amp box. now i need to know what materials. mainly wood is what i need a recommendation on. can you list some tools/materials that i need? like nails and stuff.

also what are some tips you can give me before i make it?

an another thing. i've seen people make very clean installs with amp boxes. esp. on the wiring part. it looks like a special little plug will fit into a pre-drilled hole. it's like black plug fits in there to make it look cleaner. what are these?

ok. you need a table saw, jig saw/router, drill, wood type doesn't matter unless you're putting heavy things on it.
the little black plugs are called grommets, any local hardware store will have them.
don't forget vinyl/carpet/metal?/etc.

some guy recommend or said mdf for amp box. do i really need mdf for an amp box? it's more expensive right?

what is jig saw/router? i know what a jig saw is, just not the router thing. i really don't have many tools. will a scroll saw work well enough for those curves in the box?

which is easier carpet, or vinyl? personally i like the look of vinyl better, but that requires more tools and time, right?

To use the vinyl you have to have a very smooth box to apply it to. It shows up any shoddy workmanship very clearly.

I used a circular saw the cut the box and a hole saw for the wiring. A jig saw is good if you plan on cutting shapes that are not simple squares or rectangles.

You don't need MDF. I used MDF for the sub box because thats the best wood for that, but for the amp box I used regular plywood. Plywood is lighter and I didn't want to make my trunk heavier than it needs to be.

I like working with carpet because its easy and cheaper than vinyl, but vinyl would look hot.

By the way, if you want an idea of what I did, just click the link under my pic.
