any fabric store will carry vinyl but you can usually only find the kind that stretches one way only. for good high quality vinyl i would suggest to go to one of your local stereo stores (not bestbuy/curcuitcity) and providing they do good custom work will be able to order you some (will probably make you prepay).
be prepared to pay alot for the good stuff, but it's worth it.

You can get cheap vynil at a fabric store for as little as $2 a yard. This would work fine on a box, as you'll have to sew it or something anyway to get it on all sides, and since none of the sides curve significantly. if you're covering something curvy go to an upholstery shop, and expect to pay $18 a yard...you can get it for as little as $13-14 though...shop around. if you get it through a car audio place, you'll get ripped off. they'll probably want $25 a yard or more..

www.selectproducts.com has 2 way stretch vinyl for around $15/yrd. I'm still looking for a cheaper place than that since they must be paying alot less for it. The Monte Carlo vinyl is the cheapest 2 way stretch I've found. They have several grades, but this is the best besides the $35/yd heat formable. But you'd only need that for the craziest, wackiest, twisty-curvy shapes. I've covered a wedge enclosure with rounded over edges with very stiff one way stretch vinyl, and it came out fine. You have to use a heat gun to get it to conform to shapes.
